I am always ready to "fire" anything in my bag.

Scotty is sitting in timeout in the garage these days. If he doesn't get properly contrite in a hurry, he's toast! The corollary to the subject line is my firm belief that there's nothing wrong with my golf game that can't be cured by my checkbook!

I'm currently looking into getting a new everything but that's due to the fact that I've been using my father's clubs that he never used but now he's getting into golf again and it's a bother not being able to play when he is and not being able to play with him. However, I certainly don't see myself becoming a club ho when I do get a new set. I'm more of the school of getting the swing right and the clubs won't matter.

I've got a putter and a 3 wood lined up that I'm going to buy and I'm not too fussed about a driver because I can't hit it well enough anyway. I'm planning on getting lessons to the point I have a correct and repeatable swing (even if I don't execute it every time) then going to see a club builder and getting a set of irons fitted and I'm hoping those will last me for many a year.

Golf equipment turns strong men into shoe shopping wimmen faster than any other hobby. It's sick. At least we get *some* of our money back through trade ins and resale on the net.. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

Some counts as like golf galaxy paying 50 bucks for a club that you paid 200 for and only hit once? Trade-ins are a pretty crappy deal, everyone would be better off just selling on ebay.

My personality is so addictive that my wife says that anything I do more than twice - I'll eventually wind up in a 12-step program for.

I had to go cold turkey for my equipment condition. I bought my irons this summer and swore that they would stay in my bag until someone invents a better forged MB.

My only hope is that the golf manufacturing cartel will opt to put all of their collective efforts into inventing other ways to strip the Ho'ing community away from their hard earned money.

WITB - about 15lbs. of clubs, a few balls, tees, and a windbreaker

I had a set of rental clubs and I hit the 3 hybrid dead square and long and straight 6 out of 6 times over 2 days. I came back after the vacation and bought one of eBay for $25. That's not so bad, I figure. I am going to replace my irons, as they are draw models once I fixed my push I really need/prefer a neutral bias.

I will admit to being a driver ho. What I really need is a professional fitting instead of all this random experimenting through consumerism.

Taylormade is really popular at Oakmont Country Club.. I hear people talking about the next best driver all of the time. I cant believe people buy the newest driver as soon as it comes out regardless of the technology gap between the last driver they had. However i think most people just want to be seen with the latest equipment to show around. Nothing wrong with that but there have been drivers created 5 years ago that are still better than whats being produced today

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
