I have heard these are great irons. How do these compare to the mizuno mp 60 or callway x forged?

Just my very quick $.02....I would agree that these are great irons. They are relatively forgiving without sacrificing the mizuno forged feel or work'a'billity. In comparison to the MP-60's they have a wider sole and a little more offset, they are pretty similar, I would say the MP-60's would be for a 3-9'er while the MP-57's could work for a 6-12'er. As far the callaways, well my personal preference is for the Mizunos. The Callaways are, to me, a "harder" forge and the consensus with those I play with is that you shouldn't touch them if your swing speed isn't at least 90mph or more, they are hard to get up.

Yeah, I am going to demo these even though I am not completely sure of the x forged. I am probably going to end up with some mizuno's.

I'm a 5 handicap and purchased the 57's in June. It's the best purchase I've made yet. I was playing Titleist 990's previously. The 57's are forgiving yet workable, and to me, still have plenty of "feel" for a mishit. I went with the x5.5 shaft and have loved them much more than the DG shaft. I can work my 57's very well and highly recommend them. I played the 57, 60, and the Titleist 755 and AP before going with the 57's.

I got these when my handicap was in the 20s and look where it has moved now!

Obviously good players can benefit from them, but once you're able to break 100 from the forward-most men's tees, I feel you can handle these. I call them my "swing improvement" clubs. On days when I'm not hitting my irons well, they tell me that and force me to focus! On days when I am hitting them well, they feel great.

I only tried the Callaway clubs at an indoor demo day, so I have no idea how they play.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I just got my MP-57s this week and they are surprisingly easy to hit. I moved up from Callaway X-20s, which are very good irons, and the MP-57s are not noticeably harder to hit. I didn't really like the X-forged irons when I tried them out, but perhaps I'm not talented enough to hit them, or discerning enough to figure out what I'm doing wrong with them. I'm a good ball striker, though (my handicap is largely a product of a shoddy up-and-down game), and for what it's worth the MP-57s get my vote.

    • PXG ones are free when booked through us at our facility. I don't know what the situation is like in your area, though.
    • Are free fittings a common thing? I was kind of under the assumption that there was usually a cost associated with them, unless you actually purchased their clubs or something.  What's the best way to find free ones?
    • I'd find a free fitting, take your clubs, and see what you can see. For example, we have a PXG fitter come to our academy every Tuesday, and he's great about sharing info about why he's having you hit a certain shaft or clubhead or something. And… if you don't see much of a change, skip it.
    • Day 1 (3 Apr 25) - Restarting the routine after a 4 day quick trip.  Got back in the groove today for some swings of the 6i and driver into the net -‘to just warm the muscles a little.  Wrapped up the day with grandson hitting 20-25 yd pitches in the backyard.  Love watching his swing and also his concept of course management, to hear him say he left himself in a good position to finish (good words from a soon to be 9 yr old)….
    • Day 185 - 2025-04-03 Had a good 2.5 hour session at Golf Evolution. Kinda glad it was still wet and windy out today as I wouldn't have gotten such a good session in if I played. Got up to 93 MPH (with a pause) on my 6I and 130 MPH ball speed (on a different slightly slower hit, a bit more de-lofted than I'll want eventually).
