Not quite the halfway point of the 4-ball matches, but the inevitable EURO push back seems to be happening. If the score ends up 4 to 4, it's better than I expected, but back to another morning high wire act tomorrow for the US.

The great 4-ball, combined total of 13 to 15 birdie match, or bogie-free back and forth alternate shot match is rare. Maybe we'll get one of those before the cup is over.

The golden age architects felt that water hazards should be used sparingly. Generally they preferred allowing for recovery shots over forced carries. Valhalla in some ways is antithetical to that principal.

Oh, but the pendulum is swinging back in the direction of the United States yet again on the back nine. Kim and Mickelson are now 1 up through 14, Leonard and Mahan are holding steady, and Holmes and Weekley are finally gaining momentum through the turn. Only the Stricker/Curtis-Rose/Poulter match is looking like a lock for Europe right now.

I wouldnt bet on it, all square again and Kim will bottle it. Mickelson is getting tired of carrying him imo. As I say that Padraig lands a peach from 237. C'mon Europe.

I'm right, and you're wrong. AK/Phil beat the Irishmen, 1 Up. Leonard/Mahan crush the Spaniards, 4&3, and Southern Hospitality is 1 up with 4 to play.

An interesting morning!

A more interesting afternoon. Especially when two (actually 3 with Perry's morning plop!) of the locals were more content to go fishing than put it safely in the fairway.

The Kentucky mantra... Don't put it in the water, don't put it in the water, don't put it in the water, don't put it in the water, don't put it in the water, don't put it in the water, don't put it in the water... Plop! I put it in the water. Though truth be told it was a good day for the U.S. I really liked the Lefty/Kim pairing. I think Kim put some life into Phil. Leonard and Mahan? WOW! Hunter is letting his clubs do the talking. Tomorrow is another day and I'll be watching!

Your medal is in the mail. Today is another day, a little suprised that Garcia is dropped for the morning. Westwood also, Faldo very brave (or foolish there).

    • ^This I would also add, exercise is a low hanging fruit. Especially if you want to start speed training. Speed training is a very dynamic movement that could put the body in compromised positions (with the lower back).  Yea, speed training is good as well.
    • You might check out the following thread.  I will be starting this soon so I can't yet speak from experience but others have reported good success. This would be #18 on @p1n9183 list.
    • Launch conditions are really important and what you need to dial-in before anything.  After that you can go thru the rabbit hole of things that can lead to more distance. 1- wider hands on the backswing.  2- higher hands on the backswing 3- lift of left heal on backswing for more hip rotation. 4- more shoulder turn 5- release the club ahead of the ball 6- swing the club like you need to throw it towards the objective 7- squatting before impact to use the ground in your advantage.  8- push forward with your right foot and backwards with your left at impact or before to generate more rotation 9- better sequencing. 10- realeasing the lag in the right moment 11- hitting the ball from the inside to the inside 12- hit the ball with less curvature 13- tee it high and hit up on the ball with low loft. 14- change grip to inter-lock to double-interlock 15- stronger grip 16- proper weight transfer 17- hit the gym 18- do speed tranning 19- use resistant bands 20- throw medicine balls 21- go see an instructor  22- get fitted 23- watch content from long driver's on YouTube, they have plenty of advices 24- be fast, not strong.  25- be fast only at the ball, not before, not after. 26- move the club faster in time from P5 to the ball. Etc.. Etc..  I tested a LOT of things... the ones that worked for me were: Better launch conditions, 2, 6, 11, 12, 13, 15, 22, 23,26. Now working with 18.

    • Not today, but last time I played, so hopefully that's okay. My electric trolley died by the 10th green and I had to drag it round the last 8 holes. That was not fun. Birdied 17 to go -1 and then came up short on 18 on the face of a bunker that an earlier storm had absolutely destroyed. I couldn't get the back of the ball. Moved it about a yard and then got up and down for a 5. -1 wound up being the qualifying number, so that was quite annoying. Still - lots of good out there. The other three bogeys were one chip out of the trees, one three putt and one hole that's too narrow for how long it is and I took four to get down from 200 after hitting 2 iron off the tee. Four birdies were a 9 iron to 3 feet, an 8 iron to 2 feet, a two putt birdie and a chip and a putt on the other par 5. All in all, very happy with how I played. Couldn't believe it wasn't good enough.
