Wore a glove for about the first eight years I played golf. Last year just messing around at the range and didnt wear a glove. Now I havent worn one since about July 05, and Ill never wear one again. What a different feeling without one. I have the Winn G8 grips on my irons and have never had a problem yet. The only thing to watch out for are the blisters on the left ring finger and pinky, but some tape on there every time I play or hit balls does the trick.

I almost always wear one, including to putt. Funny thing happened Sunday. It was 32 degrees when we started so I was wearing my cold weather gloves on both hands. I putted very well on the first 3 holes, including a 15 foot birdie on my first hole. It started to warm up and I took the glove off to putt on the forth hole. I pulled a makeable putt and made a bad lag putt on the next. I had a four footer for birdie on the sixth and deliberately left the glove on to putt. I drained it for my second bird. I left it on the rest of the way and didn't three putt once for the entire nine. It was probably psychological, but it worked. Once the weather warms up I will go back to my regular glove on one hand.

I consistently putt better with a glove on. I feel that when I become nervous I become overly aware and this limits my sensitivity.

I know that a while ago before the new grip technology came out a glove was very useful because not only did it help protect your hands, but if they got a little sweaty it would help to grip the club. The grips that i have, when they get wet, actually help to keep my hands dry. The grips almost act like tape and help stick to my hands. Just my opinion though.

I have never been comfortable using a glove. They just feel weird on my hands. Now I do have a glove.. 1 glove that I have had for like 6 years lol. I do use it if its raining really really hard.. I have used it on maybe 10-12 shots in my life..

I take my glove off from the PW on down.

UPDATE: Played a full round last weekend with NO glove and it was quite nice actually. I felt more from the irons and I didn't have to worry about my glove slipping out of my pocket and the hassle of putting it on and off again. No more glove for me anymore.

Everyone shall come to the no-glove side eventually...

Glove - three main blisters are seemingly inevitable without one, and my grip is supposedly fine. . . I can't seem to get a grip on this one. HA HA, get it?

Funny you bring this up...I've been going back and forth.
Not much difference either way for me. I wipe my hand a lot less with a glove on. :)

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
