hey. im 14 just like you. I have a lower handicap but i still play the more workable 57's. They are the bestt irons out there and they fit the description of what you want almost perfectly. They give good feedback when you hit it wrong, but it sounds like you are a pretty good ball striker. these irons helped get me down to the handicap i have right now.
Definitely consider these irons.

[QUOTE=ace2894;217932]Hey I'm a 14 year old 10 handicap and I'm looking to invest in a new set of irons. Any suggestions?

I see you define irons as 3-->PW

Technically I would go for something like this (for 10 handicap)

3H Adams A4 Tech
4H Adams A4 Tech
5iron Adams A4 Tech
6iron Adams A4 Tech
7iron Adams A4 Tech
8iron 9iron and PW Adams A4 ideal pro gold model forged

Once you get around 10 handicap, I think the feel and workability of forged clubs 8iron through Lob wedge is worth it.

If you are looking for the most cost effective option. Check out the MacGregor M455 Vfoil forged muscle back set. I use an M455 Vfoil gap wedge and absolutely love the feel.

The M455 Vfoils were introduced in 2004, so you could find a nice used set for very cheap.
Here is a review with good pictures.

I had to get new irons as an 11 handicap as a 15 year old (my Seve Slazenger's hand-me-downs were snapping in 2!) - I considered blades and could sorta hit them but some good advice was given to me - If you're going to come down in the handicap stakes - get something middle of the road first, and if you get to 5 handicap, try blades if you want. Others will disagree but I took that advice and it was the best way to lose shots for me.

all the irons you mentioned are players irons, except for maybe the cg reds and the r7 tp's.

If i were you, i would get an iron set that offers more forgiveness than workability... Lets think about it...how often are you forced to work the ball during a round? Maybe 3 or 4 times, but usually not even. I love my r7's they feel great, but as like you im looking for something thats a little smaller, and offers more feel. Whatever you do, i would go forged, the ap2's are very nice, and im considering them. I would also look at the mp 62's, the only problem is these are players irons, and i would not reccomend getting them if i was a 10 handicap(right now im a 7, not 8.3) If you are really planning on getting better, i would get something that is going to challenge you a bit, because this will only make you better in the long run, like hawkeye said ^^, but dont get a blade, because those should only be used for <5 handicaps. fyi, im 16

I "humbly" disagree. I'm around a 10 handicap and I love playing the blade. I crave the feedback and feel of the blade. Now if you think that you are not strong enough to hit a blade because you are a little bit younger that is one thing....I have the Titleist ZM's and I love them. Some days are of course better than others....lol.

Id have to agree with you blades are great and my handicap has not suffered actually it dropped from and 18-20. Crazy thing is that the set that i switched from(which was also my first set) were the 06 big berthas.

i consider myself strong enough to hit a blade with an 88mph 6 iron swing speed. But what i was really trying to say in my original comment is that for most double digit handicappers, the advantages of blades will not out weigh the disadvantages. I think that with today's clubs, you can get a players cavity back iron which has the same feel of a blade with a little more forgiveness. Not only will this make your misses a bit better, but it will give you more confidence when stepping up to a ball. Honestly, mid to high handicappers should not need to know if they are missing the sweet spot by 1/2'', but rather they should be trying to hit greens and fairways and 2 putting.

you are 14 years-old. your body is going to start hormoning through the roof very shortly (if it hasn´t started already )

you are probably going to grow a couple of inches and put on 20 pounds within the next two years.

What is my point?

My point is that whatever you select now will not last you more than a year or two. So, definitely (unless you have no financial limits) buy second hand.

At your level, find the clubhead that gives you good confidence at address (i have mp-57s and they give me outstanding confidence) and find the proper shaft for your body and swingspeed.

you are going to throw them away (sell them) in less than two years...

Please don´t swing while I´m talking !!

I think the Mizuno MP-52 would definitely be worth your time to try. They are forged (so lie and loft can be easily adjusted if necessary, and at age 14 you may continue growing and possibly want that adjustability), have a great soft feel and are forgiving, but not at the loss of workability. Plus, I think they are at least among the best looking irons in golf. At your age and skill level, if you stick with it you should just keep improving and this model will help on bad shots, but still allow you to work the ball. Once you've hit Mizuno irons nothing else quite feels as good. Further, I don't think you'll get too good for them anytime soon as they are a 'players' iron.

Well how about the Mizuno MP 57's? I'm going to by a set this week. I love my Titleist ZM blades, but the MP 57's feel JUST as good when hit like a blade. Not to mention that the MP 57's are a ball strikers club.

exactly, players cb ions these days offer alot more benefits than a blade...if they didn't then way more than 30% of pga tour pros would play blades.

well i think a good set of blades would do you fine they would make you a awesome ball striker (after you get used to hitting them) and you cant get the workability anywhere else
