"I'm almost done with my pack of noodles, so I'm debating whether or not to buy new golf balls... or choose a new type. By the way, my swing speed is apprx. 95 MPH.

I'm looking for one type that are decently cheap that I would use on a consistent basis during practice rounds, and another type that I use in tournaments/serious play.

For the regular play ball, I just want something that will be worth the money and are good around the greens and has gives average distance (don't need super power distance). I would probably pay at most 30$ ?

For the tournament golf balls I'm looking for something good all around but not super expensive like the Pro V1s... Probably 40 dollar range?

I've done some researching these last few minutes and found some golf balls for "normal play" that I might want...

Noodle - 15.95
Bridgestone e6+ - 26.95
Callaway CX3 Hot - 24.95
Top Flite Gamer - 19.95

So, which one of these do you think I should get. Please post others if you know of any others around the same price!

Thanks for your help!

For "My game" I would go with the E6+ in that selection, I would also look into the Titleist NXT Tours and Extremes as well though. Get individual sleeves of them all and see which one performs best for you.

For the higher spin/performance balls the B330-S and B-330RX are worth a look as well as the Callaway IX's, and of course you can't go wrong with the staple Titleist Pro V line.

All good balls for serious play at a highly reduced price. AAAAA are practically new, AAAA look like they have been hit once, and even AAA are definitely playable. What I would do in your situation is buy some AA or AAA for practice, and some AAAA or AAAAA for more serious play. You will get some balls with logos but it will not affect performance at all.

Ok, I'm looking into

Bridgestone E6+

or

Callaway CX3 Hot.

Which one is better?

I can't speak for the Callaway ball you mentioned, but in the original post you said something about wanting a ball that's good around the green. In my opinion, that's not the E6+.....and that's coming from a Bridgestone fan. I'd look more at the E5+ from Bridgestone; the E6+ is more of a "more distance/less spin" ball.

As for upper level balls....I got a dozen of the B-300-RX from Bridgestone and absolutely love them so far...enough to buy them again over the ProV1x. But again....that's me. Everyone is different.

The Callaway HX Hot and Bridgestone e6+ are not my idea of good around the greens. I played the HX Hot for a while this summer to control my slice/fade. It is hands-down the longest ball I've played, but it has little or no green side manners. If you want a cheap ball with some spin for chips/approach shots, try the Bridgestone e5+ (it has a urethane cover).

BTW, from what I've read the CX3 Hot is just a Walmart packaged HX Hot. They will be the same ball.

For practise I use mostly lake balls or cheap new ones. I'm still at a stage where I lose too many balls during practise rounds, so high-end balls are too expensive for that (for me anyway).
For qualifying rounds I use mainly Titleist PTS SoLo's or Titleist DT Carry.
Not that I can feel much difference (remember I'm just a beginner), but somehow using a Titleist ball keeps me more focused and concentrated. I know, it's weird ... probably a mental thing

* 1st, I'm not sure what "practice rounds" are or what "serious play" is. My guess is the definitions of these vary from person to person.

* 2nd, in any event I'd recommend that as a general rule you play the same brand & type ball in all rounds, for example unless you're experimenting to see if you can find a ball that is better suited to your game than the one you're currently using. If, while playing "practice rounds" you get used to the characteristics of a specific ball, then switch to a different ball for tournament rounds it would seem to me you're not really going to be completely familiar with the characteristics of your "tournament" ball and your tournament scores could suffer because of that. * In my mind, every round I play is a "serious" round whether or not it's a tournament round. * Just my 2-cents worth.

I don't think that's weird at all. Makes perfect sense to me.

For your everyday ball try the Wilson Staff Zip (spin rate 10,518 RPM) or the Wilson Staff Fifty (spin rate 9,546 RPM). Both are under $20/dozen.
For comparison your Noodle's have a spin rate of 7,789 RPM.
If you can find it the Feb. 2008 issue of Golf magazine has a comprehensive article on finding the best ball for your game. That is where the numbers above came from.
After reading the article I switched balls and my scores improved.

I am exactly the same with the ball I play. It just feels like it's a regular piece of my equipment. Hitting a different ball is like pulling a different driver out of my bag. Something's not quite right...

Yeah my last round I switched to my carry bag and forgot my balls (no puns please) had to use my dads Nikes, I don't think there is anything wrong with Nike, but it's not "my ball." Mental thing.....

Ok, I'm thinking about either trying the Bridgestone e5+ or e6+

The e6+ is more of a longer, lower spin ball, and I believe that is has a lower compression, although I'm not 100% sure about this.

The e5+ is a better ball for around the green, they spin pretty good, and still get decent distance off the tee.

Here's what I play:

And also does it have the same spin rate as the e5+, and which do you think is better?

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
