Don't forget to have fun, I got burnt out freshman year, and it really hurt my practicing for this upcoming year. I practiced maybe once a week before this season.

i am in the 8th grade i play about 70-80 rounds a year and am currently a 7 handicap. my high school golf team is very good the best handicap on the team is a +3.5 so i hope to get down to a 1 or 2 so i can play varsity freshman year and hopefully play d1 college golf.

Im playing at Willamette University and its great because its really low key. It's D3, nothing like D1 golf where it would take over your life at school. I'm glad that academics come first here because how many of us are really going to turn pro? Its just fun and it fit me because I'm not a great golfer lol. Serious golfers should definitely go for D1 schools though, you could pursue a career in it if that's what you want. Look at your options, decide if you want to go to school just for golf or for the academics because it really depends on what you want to do.

I wish that at least in my school they have a golf program... but that doesn't happen here in Mexico.

I want to get to around a +2 or +3 handicap over the next four years of high school. I think its possible as I have only been playing for a year and I'm around a 9 handicap.

I heard these like, little IJGAs and such are great ways for college exposure, but i wish i was a little better :P

If you don't mind, could you post what you practice schedule at Willamette is? Where does your team practice? What is the best way to get coaches to notice you? What kind of discounts do you get on clubs, apparel, and shoes? And from what company?

Well as someone playing on a community college golf team, i must say you all will definatley need to have a low handicap. I have around a 3 nowadays, and the competition is only getting stronger. My recommendation would be shave as many strokes as possible off. I will hopefully be playing golf for East Carolina University in a year or two. But yea, remember this little quote my dad gave me before i came to college. "If you keep doing things the same way, you will get the same results" the best thing ive ever heard before.

What a great quote. I'll keep that in mind when I am doing practicing and trying new things. I am now seeing a pro regularly and in the gym 3 times a week.

I know someone community college players and they said the competition is strong and had the time of their life. Not a bad way to get started.

i dont know if you can reach a point or if its just certain teachers, but i feel like seeing my teacher about once every few months is more beneficial to me. i guess its because my swing is to a point where i don't need somebody constantly trying to improve it and work on mechanics. i have a friend on my golf team whose dad was a club pro for 20ish years and now is an exec. for club car golf carts. i will probably start seeing him because it won't cost me anything and im not extremely pleased with my current coach
