Used to hunt a bit...but that has slowed down...nay, halted since getting back into golf.

I enjoy reading, college football, family time, fishing, grilling out and the virtues of really cold light beer.

Playing tennis, skiing (difficult to keep up with this one since I live in Georgia), reading, collecting sports art (I highly recommend Rick Rush's artwork-very classic stuff).

i was a hardcore rockcrawler untill i sold my jeep 2 weeks ago.. got tired of throwing money at it and watching it break...

i'm gonna build a more mediocre jeep here in a couple months or so.. something much smaller and on 35" tires or less.... something that i can still go off road in and it will be at least semi-street legal...

that has been my biggest hobby for the last 5 years.. i loved every minuite of it untill i went overboard with the high dollar parts and it became more expensive than it was fun...

My biggest hobby anymore is chasing my 3 kids, 8 months, 2 years, and 5 years. But I am also into archery, shooting, and raising our growing chicken flock.

Two other items:
1. I do work out on a regular basis, and have a personal trainer, who is located at our local YMCA. We concentrate on specific exercises to develop strength and flexibility in core muscles and those muscles that are important in golf. We have many golfers in our area, and he decided that he needed to become an expert in that area.

2. Reading books in history, business and government. I majored in government, and took many courses in economics, business, and history. The two most recent books that I have read are "1776" by David McCullough and "Team of Rivals" by one of my college instructors, Doris Kearns Goodwin. Obviously, many people are reading the latter because Barack Obama is following the same philosophy that Lincoln did when he appointed Seward, Bates, Chase, and Stanton to his cabinet. He was NOT afraid to appoint former political opponents to key positions in the cabinet. It takes a REAL LEADER to do that. In this day and age, political and business leaders seem to like to have cabinets or Boards that are submissive, rather than contentious. We LACK FOR REAL LEADERS in this country in business and government. Where have all THE REAL LEADERS gone? I will end my comments here since I have posted some in the "Grill Room" on this website.

With golf, who has time or can afford another hobby? I play golf, practice golf, watch The Golf Channel (and any other golf on TV) and go 'window shopping' at golf stores.

For the time left after all that, my hobbies are watching movies (I watch 6-10 movies a week) and racquetball during winter.

Dogs: Breed, raise, show in conformation Scottish Terriers. Scotties are what Pres. Bush has ie Barney. Ours are quite a bit better.

Travel: Some due to the dogs, some independently. Recent trips: Bangkok, Tokyo, parts of Sweden and Denmark, western areas of Germany, Ireland, Alaska. Have tried to do some golfing on the trips. Also lots of travel pics.

Travel is the big one for my wife and I. Are up to about 90,000 miles so far this year on our travels with a couple more trips planned before the year is out...13 countries so far this year.

I'm jealous! Scotties are fantastic dogs, such characters! My wife and have said we're going to get one when we are older after we're done with bigger terriers. We haven't got the bigger terrier (most likely a Wheaten) yet so it's a little ways off. We live vicariously through our friends dogs at the moment!

    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
