Does he have a chance to make the top 125 if he wins this tourney? Doesn't the top 137 still get to play some PGA tournements?

Just wondering. Thanks

I believe winning gives him an automatic 2 year exemption or maybe its 1 year but yeah 2009 is set for tommy if he wins today.

I just wanted to say that I am thrilled for Tommy, and his results this weekend / year.

I have read alot of talk around different forums that have been suggesting that he may not have what it takes to be on the PGA tour. Regeardless if he does or not, I am pulling for him, and personally, I think he does have what it takes. He will only get better in seasons to come.

He found a new putter this weekend, and it made all the difference in the world. He has been working mostly with limited support. As Tommy makes more of a stronger name for himself, he will surly gain more support. Which means more of an advantage to help him improve.

Anyhow, he is from my area, so I like to pull for him. He gives me a reason to go out and improve my game. Plus I know him and his family. Really great guy from a great bunch of people.

Good luck to Tommy in the future.

His putting was incredible, leading the field this week. I was particularly impressed with the touch putt on 17, a downhill right to left break. No way I expected him to drain that one.

Tommy said he went to the nearby Rife plant last week and they fitted him for a new putter, a 34 inch instead of his typical 35 inch, and it was all the difference. Plus, you've got to give Don Donatello some credit. He caddied for Two Gloves this week and supposedly is a great reader of greens. Nick Faldo was befuddled by Gainey's style all day: * "You look at the posture, the grip, the way he gouges at it, and you think no way, then the ball ends up nestled to the hole." * On Gainey's ultra quick tempo: "He's like Nicky Price on steroids."

Faldo can laugh all he wants (and probably wants to, to forget the Ryder Cup). Gainey's tempo is no faster than Aussie Rod Pampling and anybody looking at Furyk's swing would probably say he couldn't play either.

When I saw Donatello I couldn't believe it. Amazing he would caddy for Gainey given their BB history.

Gainey may not make it past Q school or play in more than a handful of tournaments, but he's already done more than a lot of people predicted. Good for him, and good luck to him.

I thought Gainey was aweful hunched over, but other than that he looked alright to me. I like the way he hit his 4 iron. He cranked it!

Well this guy is really having a year for himself isn't he? I pretty much wrote him off once he didn't keep his card in '08. Watching Nationwide Tour wind down I noticed he's 3rd in the money rank. So I checked his results for the year, a little bit of a rocky start, but mid-season he really kicked butt, chalking up two wins. Pretty stelar stuff!

Callaway RazrFit Extreme 9.5 w/Project X 6.5
Callaway XHot Pro 15* 3Wood w/Project X 6.5
Callaway XTour 18* 2h w/S300

Callaway XForged III 5-PW irons w/S300

I get a kick out of watching him play. He just flat out goes after it on every full swing. Aggressive is a mild term for how he plays. I'd like to see him on the big tour.

To me it is amazing. He has an ugly move and yet he had a great year. He scores and I guess that is all that matters in the end.

    • I generally like par-3 courses and find it a darn shame that the last of them closed in my area during the pandemic. Part of it may have to do with the fact that I never have been very good with the longer clubs, so the short holes are a bit more my speed.  Being able to get in 18 holes in two hours was pretty convenient and, ironically, the lack of crowds made them peaceful places to be. Naturally, that's the same reason they no longer exist around here.  The second option sounds like a whole lot of no fun.
