Living in the Northeast, the greens fees drop drastically in November. What are the average prices around the area that you have encountered.
I have normally seen $35-$40 for 18 holes now-a-days. That is surprisingly high. I drive by some of these sourses a few times a day and never see anyone out there... Wouldn't it behoove the club to drop prices a litte more?

The place I play most of the time is $28 during the summer and $15 during the winter.

As far as the higher priced places, they probably figure since no one is coming out, they better keep the price up to make up for it (more money per person that does show up).

In Kohler, WI the Whistling Straights and Blackwolf Run courses offer excelent deals in November.

Of course the close the two nicer courses, The Straights (2004 & 2010 PGA Championship course) and the River @ Blackwolf Run.

However, The Irish at the Strights course is only $55 dollars walking, normally $155 and the Meadow Valleys @ Blackwolf Run is also only $55, normally $155.

Other than that golf generally gets about 25% cheaper in the cold months in Wisconsin.

The local muni (metro Detroit) has dropped about ten bucks, and will drop to ten bucks for 9 or 18 (doesn't make sense I know) when the temp drops down in the 30s and they put the carts away for the winter. Guess you get a free nine if you can brave the cold

Fewer daylight hours available means more competition for the tee times - prices here stay about the same. I did get a $40 tee time Sunday which includes a cart and a hamburger.

What I have seen is that higher-end places that are a little out of the way are quietly dropping prices through email specials. With gas up and a slow economy, those places are hurting. I played a *fantastic* course in Hollister, CA for $49 yesterday.

I would think course maintenance would be a little harder in the winter, because of more course damage, since it's usually wetter.

Is it cheaper to play a round in the States, or in Canada? From what I am hearing Canada is much more expensive. Even the average course will cost you about $40+/person during the summer. This course is nothing special, and $40 is considered cheap. The cheapest round I've ever had was $12 for a 9 and it was a par 3.

Well where I'm starting to play between May 1st and November 1st it cost $29 during the week, and $38 on weekends.

From November 2nd to April 30th it changes to $20 during the week and $26 on weekends.

That being said even during the season it only cost me $20 during the week, and $25 on weekends since I'm a junior (18 or under).

I can play a course called Crystal Spring for about $36 and before November it was $46. Have you checked out the site below?

This time of the year (November-March) is peak season in the Palm Springs area.
I love the weather but I'll take the 110F heat of summer on empty courses at $20-$40 a round over crowded courses and $$$ greens fees that winter brings.

Same here. Rates go up in November and generally come back down in April here in Orlando. Trying to get some money out of the snow birds I think. I guess that is what we get for being able to play year round.

played "super twilight" yesterday.. $15 and we got 9 holes in. Probably could have fit in 2 more but that would have taken us far away from the clubhouse and it would have been a walk back in the dark.

Matt - Which course is that? I've been trying to play the last two weeks and the weather has sucked.

Whats an off season fee? JK, but we don't have those as we really don't have an off season. We just have a colder season and a hotter season.
