I'm still in shock. I can't believe that she announced her retirement earlier this year. She's done so much for the game and has one of the best personalities in golf.

I think that she'll be back. If she doesn't return full-time she'll definately play in the majors or selected tournaments.

She can't just leave! She's a legend!

You are right! She is a true "class act" and a great Champion. During the last ten years, she did a great deal to promote women's golf, and now will continue that with her school and will also help junior girls.

I'll give her 5 to 10 before her return. She'll have a kid or two. Start to build the Sorenstam Corp. even bigger with her investments, building golf courses. She'll get back into shape and return to win 4 more majors in her forties.

That's my prediction. She surely is a great golfer and great for the game. Especially on the Ladies' side.

I'll disagree with the "promote women's golf." She's a dull, boring, dry, stick-in-the-mud emotionless golfer. A GREAT golfer, but a boring one nonetheless.

Paula Creamer has done more to popularize and promote women's golf in the short time she's been on Tour than Annika did in her decades golfing.

Boring, yes; but the consumate professional. I like her because she handles difficult situations very well: examples: All the tournaments and majors she has won, started to show more emotion after been criticized as stoic golfing machine. Handled Colonial situation perfectly (would loved to have seen her make the cut) Was authoritative with Wie's behaviour at Annika's tournament.

yeah, she is a little boring at times and doesn't show much emotion, but she has done SOME things to promote the game and has been a positive influence on the game. Also, as someone stated she has always been a "class act" and the tour will certainly loose something with her departure. I do agree that she is not as electrifying as Paula or some of the other young women though, but she has helped the sport nonetheless.

Is she actually gonna stop playing pro? I hate people that are like Im retiring, im gonna do a 39 hour week instead of 40. It makes me mad, it seems like most of these are just stunts to sell stuff.

Agree with the comments on Annika 100%. She was an ice-queen driven to be the best, not promote the sport. But I still don't get this obsession here with Paula Creamer - no one outside of die-hard LPGA followers know who she is. Many more people are familar MIchele Wie or Natalie Gulbis. To me, Paula's notorious on course behavior indicates that she is primarily focused on Paula, and not on promoting the women's game. She wants to be #1, an admirable goal, but I hardly think she's a great ambassador of women's golf either.

Ah luuuv Annika's form, can't help it.

Will really miss her. It all seems like it came too soon.

But I hope we can look forward to her on the champions' tour or some such thing.

I have to agree with you 110% on this one. It seems like everyone is concerned with what an LPGA player looks like rather than what she does for the game.

    • If you got space for it, a hitting net is also a good option that allows you to hit real balls. I do most of my full swing practice on a net st home these days. I find it very valuable to hit balls. I can do something different in ten rehersal swings and on the next full swing just do my normal swing. Muscle memory and having done something thousands of time is difficult to overcome. A combination of slow swings, testing new feelings and full swings is better than only swinging without a club. The better players and instructors can probably get more value out of swinging without hitting anything.
    • Detry making some good length putts today. Defying probability with a pretty good round. +4.3 strokes gained putting. Not sure this is sustainable.  Nicolas Echavarria, leading the field with +3.72 AVG strokes gained approach. He is -2.51 strokes gained putting.  Right now, I would put money on Aberg, Top 10 strokes gained putting, top 5 strokes gained approach and leading in strokes gained off the tee.  Rory's putter needs to heat up. Another all-around good play is Tony Finau, +1 to +2 strokes gained in putting, approach, around the green and off the tee.  Live Tournament Stats - U.S. Open Live strokes gained and traditional statistics from every round of this week’s PGA Tour event in a customizable table.
    • Day 589, June 14, 2024 Played at Kahkwa Club today. I hit some really good shots, and some really bad ones, particularly warming up. I wasn't really in it but should have been. Dumb.
    • Yeah, I would think balls not grabbing on these greens = defensive golf. On another note, I seem to have jinxed Scheffler and  Kentucky has declared a statewide national holiday in celebration. Groan.
