Hi guys,

Currently playing R7's index 7 depending on the day. I hit some forged semi blade taylormades over the weekend and the lack of offset really helped me not hook the ball. I'm looking for a decent set to get back into that mode. Any suggestions would be appreciated, trying to stay under 300 if possible for a used set. .

Thanks

The most workable and softest CAST irons I've hit were the Cleveland CG2s I'm currently gaming. A little less soft, but very workable were the Cobra Carbon CBs. Both should be well under $300 used, as they are both out of production.

Good Luck!

They do look sweet. The ones on the bay don't seem to have that black painted part, did you do it or did it come like that ? what year are they from ?

Hi guys,

I've been very impressed with the MacGregor 1025 V-foil muscle backs and the 675's are pretty dang nice also. You should be able to find a band new set for under 300 bux.

Agree, MacGregor offers the best combination of fantastic club at a great price.

For under $300 you could get a used set of MacTec NAVG2 irons(actually could get this for around $170) You could get a used set of Vm675s or m455s for even cheaper. For around $300, check out one year old barely used MacGregor MT mids http://www.macgregorgolf.com/irons.asp

I don't think you could go wrong with any set of Mizuno's, MP 57, 60, 67. Since they came out with the MP 52 and 62, you should be able to get the 60 and 67 for a very reasonable price.

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

the ones on ebay arent brand new (except for one auction), thats why they dont have the black paintfill anymore. i JUST found a brand new set of those, and i took that photo 2 days ago. so thats what they look like when they are brand new. and there is ONE brand new set on ebay right now. here is the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/PRECEPT-FORGED-T...1%7C240%3A1318 and that is the same seller i bought mine from. great guys. Bridgestone/Precept made those from 2001-2003, so its really rare to find a brand new set. the guys selling those said they recently acquired several brand new sets of those, and when i ran across their auction, i had to buy another set (i now have 2 sets of these). and like i said, they are VERY workable. they have a nice soft feel to them, a thin topline, and just a slight offset.

LISTEN UP!

take my advice...play different sets and see what you like the feel of. Narrow it down to a few sets then (mark my words here) research on the manufactuer's site the offset of each club and use the club with the smallest amount of offset!

Or just get a club with a small amount of offset. :)

well I just hit a bunch of stuff in my local shop. The two I liked were the J33r and the Mac irons. The j33'r are 250 and 300, one has px shafts and the other has dg300's which one which one ?

I've been pleased with my set....had 'em for years. The reduced or zero offset compared to their normal sets are just what I was looking for at the time. Offset just helped me miss left. These don't.

They are workable...however they do have huge cavities and you have to exagerate things just a bit to get draws or cuts...but it is not hard. I've seen used sets go between $200 and $250 on ebay or in golf shops. They are a cast club but the feel is really nice. Feedback is not very severe, but you'll have a general idea where you mishit. The Rifle shafts are real gems. I maintain a medium trajectory that I prefer. Never balloon....distances are consitant. Those Bridgestone clubs posted above are really nice, too....more of a players club than mine.

both are solid choices, and both are all personal preference. i believe the DG300's have a slightly lower penetrating ball flight than the PX's. you just need to hit them both and see which one YOU like best. personally i prefer the DG's over the PX's, but a lot of people like the PX's over the DG's. just depends on what YOU prefer...are the PX's 5.5's or 6.0's?

Can't go wrong with any of those. I hit J33 blades before and they just looked so sweet.

Wow, those are beauties.

Also, for the original post, the component brand KZG has some zero offset irons. Probably hard to find, but that's probably the most workable you can get.
