Back around 2003 when I was in college I went to play a round at the University golf course. I went in to pay.. and there was a line (the course was ALWAYS packed). So after at least 5 minutes.. I come outside and grab my bad.. and.... my driver was missing! A Titleist 975J-VS that I never saw again. I looked everywhere.. asked everyone who was outside in the area, and everyone said they didn't see anything. Wound up going home without even playing.

Nope never had anything stolen. I left a wedge next to the green once and noticed the next hole when I needed it. So I took the cart to the group behind me and before I got to them they had it already out and handing it to me. Nice guys.

I had the same sort of thing happen to me, except I never found my pitching wedge after I realized it was gone after playing a few more holes. There was a bit of confusion between my friend and I about where we thought it might be, because I had let him borrow it on a few holes. I asked the group behind me whether they had seen or picked one up, and they said they did not. I still think they lied.

about a week ago I went to the range. I set my bag behind the mat and left to get balls. When I got back the headcover of my driver was gone. No one saw anything.

Golf is a game in which the ball always lies poorly and the player always lies well.

be thankful thats all it was. inexpensive lesson learned. i'm pathetically obsessed when it comes to protecting my equipment. ive realized a bag of clubs is worth like a thousand bucks these days. and it only takes a couple of seconds when your not looking for someone to slip a $400 driver out of your bag. i lost a beautiful sand wedge that way once. i dont even use my fancy magnetic club covers. i have regular old socks over my woods. those fancy head covers just scream "steal this club!". i even roll my bag cart into the bathroom with me. ha ha, seriously, i do.

I occasionally lose a good quality ball on the practice green which presumably gets picked up in error by another player.

My tip to avoid losing clubs if you are around the green area is to always leave them on the green when not using them, ideally in a place which you have to walk past to move on the next hole. I find this makes it unlikely that you'll forget them but in any event, the next group behind, should clearly see the club as they approach the green.

I left a wedge behind once on the green which was stolen, but always on my bag i have the rain-cover on it while around the clubhouse,restroom,e.t.c.No point in tempting temptation. To much value in my bag for someone to walk by and quickly grab a club.I can just imagine how you felt when you went to your bag and a driver missing.

I lean a putter next to my bag and when they called my name as a single, I picked up my bag and when I got to the first hole and realized that I dropped my putter on the practice green, I ran back and it was gone and no one turned it into the pro shop. It was very disappointing especially since there was someone at the putting green practicing when I left, it was my very first putter a Ping Becu Pal 4. This happened some 20 years ago, but you always wonder how someone can take someone else's club and not even think about returning it to the owner especially golfers.

You will never forget a club if you leave part of your club on the putting surface and near the direction you will be walking towards to the next tee box.

Somewhat surprisingly, given the cost of high-end golf equipment these days, no.

Not to offend those that frequent the local muni, but I think that part of that might be playing higher-end courses that aren't frequented by the 16 year-old crowd playing dad's hand-me-downs.....

Just because you say not to offend dosent mean its not offensive. Lets judge people on their actions and not on whether or not they are 16 and frequent munis...

I have never had anything stolen except for the occasional ball that someone picks up on accident. I never leave my bag out of my sight though.

Besides, we all know the rich guys at the private clubs got rich by stealing from the regular guy. ;)

I actually had someone track me down to return a head cover once. I guess it depends on the person. I think too many people take the "finders keepers" rule too seriously. What if we did that with cars? "Look, I just found a Lexus in it in the parking lot. Hey, finders keepers." I really don't understand people that keep items they find on the course, knowing someone else must have lost it and will be looking for it. It's one thing to sell your soul for the world, but for a golf club?

The trick I use so that I never leave a club on the green is to bring my putter headcover onto the green with me whenever I need more than just my putter. I'll rest my wedge/club on top of the putter headcover. If I get back to my bag and don't have my headcover, I know that I left it along with my wedge on the green.

As for having a club stolen, I've never had that happen to me before. I've heard stories from my dad that decades ago some of the caddies at the club I play at (Champions GC in Houston) would takes clubs out of your bag if you left them in the bag room and wouldn't return them until you gave them a "tip" for finding them. Needless to say even though those people are long gone from the club, I take my clubs home with me.

The best putter I ever owned was taken from my bag on day. It was an old Ping Anser. It had a super light shaft with sand in it. I guess it was karma because I got the putter when a buddy threw it into the lake and told me I could have it if I went to get it. I have always wondered if that guy stole it back.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee
