Note to self after four-month layoff from even really touching a golf club: New Decade Multicompound (i.e. partially corded) grips may be great grips in the summer time, but are incredibly less so after a long layoff.

In other words.... ouch.

That is all.

have you ever played cords? even worse on the hands. When i go to a heated driving range during the winter, my hands kill after a couple shots.

Yes. Used to play them exclusively. And as far as the left hand is concerned, the NDMCs are a corded grip.

yeah i know, but the glove helps alot by masking the cord part. My right hand has blisters on it after a long range session. I might make the switch to the carolina blue multicompounds.

I swung a few of my old clubs after a fifteen year layoff. I was pleasantly surprised that they stayed in my hands.

My layoff is normally football season, when I'm swamped. A few years ago I started sending myself an email with an unmistakable header at the end of summer, with all the tips and swing thoughts I was working on, before the layoff. Not that my game improves but I'm always amazed the basic stuff I forget before I pick up the clubs again. After reading the email I'm generally less pathetic than I would have been, particularly in terms of alignment.

That was hilarious.

I use a glove and don't have corded grips and the one thing I struggle with after the winter is getting the hands back. It takes a few sessions at the range and/or a few rounds to get to where they don't hurt anymore.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I hit a bucket yesterday, my first full swing action since the end of October, and my hands are not the only thing that's sore. It really is dreadful how out of shape I can get over the winter.

Question though, does anyone find that blisters are more common in the cold when the skin isn't quite as supple, or are my new grips more likely to blame for the soreness?

No. Once you get your calluses built up you'll be fine. They're great grips. And they really only sting on mis-hits (see also: four month layoff

).
then as tiger woods says, "get one."

No thanks. I've never worn a glove. Not about to start now.

I don't wear a glove and I havent' played since September. I've only started hitting balls in the last few weeks and I've always used Velvets of various brands. You're saying I'm in for some pain then?
