Too many times someone will ask a question that's been answered elsewhere. Such questions often derail (or rally kill) threads or, at the very least, take time to answer when the onus should be on the question asker to do a little research.

Here are the commonly asked questions and their answers.

1) Newbie Thread
A lot of the questions are answered simply by reading this post . This post is PMed and emailed to every new user, and it covers creating a signature (with logos), reputation, reporting spammy posts, and more. Note: Report Post is not the same as Reply to Post.

2) Posting in the Marketplace
You've got to be an Established Member , 18 years of age, and you have to follow the rules .

3) Embedding Videos
That is all covered in this post .
Use the new [video] tag.

Any other items we should add? Suggest them below - but I think this covers just about every common question.

How about the common threads of "which irons should I buy?" or "which ball should I play?" or "what should I do for golf exercise?"

We get these threads fairly commonly, and I used to have a near-copy-paste reply for the exercise threads. Or do you mean only commonly-asked questions with the same answer each time (e.g., putting logos in your signature is the same process regardless of your handicap or ball-striking ability)?

Look at "Newbie Thread" (question 1, above). It's in the answer to that.

Forum leaders were made before the transition to Huddler, we gave our insight, helped test out features and made suggestions on how we would like to see it work. Now that it is up and running there is not much a forum leader does. We have access to a Leader Forum category, but now that Huddler is running well, most of the activity is bug reporting, which is done in the Tech Support category, which is open for everyone.

I think some were made (or supposed to be) moderators after the transition, don't know how that went. In any case, this forum runs pretty smoothly without the need for a lot of moderation, Erik are usually here to cool off users when it gets nasty.

That was the plan, but it hasn't really been necessary and I kind of like keeping "moderator" responsibility to staff members. It's not a slight on anyone - moderating is more a pain in the butt, so truthfully I hope people are glad they've not been asked to moderate. It can burn you out.

Forum Leaders have some perks (I think they can list more Marketplace items) over regular and Established members, not the least of which is that they should be looked to as example setters.

    • Bryson got hit with a 2 shot penalty, after the round, for improving his lie on hole 5.  Here is a post on X, showing how he stepped on high grass when he was looking down his target line.  When they cut to the side shot, you can see how close he was behind the ball.  I think the R&A probably made the correct decision. You just have to be really careful when you are walking in the high grass, around the ball and where you are to make a swing.

    • Day 27 (17 July 26) - Normally an 18 hole day, but due to commitments abbreviated the round to 9 holes (played the back nine at home course).  Had a solid session where even the worst miss (tee shot off 18) was fully playable.  Shot a solid 39 (6pars, 3bogies) - not dbls, no three putts - just boring golf.
    • Overall, well said. People have to be very careful in trying to describe very complex problem in simple terms. In this case, it is a clear fundamental misunderstanding of Newton's 1st and 3rd laws.  To clarify more on the misinterpretation of Newton's 1st law. The exact interpretation of Newton's 1st Law....  "Every body continues in its state of rest, or of uniform motion in a straight line, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it" yea, a body will stay motionless unless a force acts upon it. An object will stay on its path of motion unless a force acts upon it.  I get it, complex physics problems are difficult. There is a lot of simplification done in most physics class when it is taught. A classic problem uses a frictionless surface. Projectile motion excludes drag and wind direction. Collisions are usually elastic. The golf swing is not a simple physics problem.  Yea, I think they got caught up the data on the graphs and are not truly understanding cause and effect.  If the golfer isn't first pushing into the ground, then the ground isn't going to push back.  The internal forces of the body create the motion, not the external forces from the ground. The ground isn't like what Psy uses to start his concert. 🤣 You probably need to be connected to the ground and have those GRF to help the body produce the motion you want. Your body has to move in the right way to produce the GRF which helps you move the body in the way you want. Body motion precedes the GRF.
