I hope so for her sake.. My PayPal bet stands this year for her in the U.S.: 1. She will NOT make a cut on a PGA event. 2. She will NOT win a PGA event. PM me if there are any takers.

Unless they allow men to play on the LPGA I don't think she should be allowed on the pga tour. Now if there was no such thing as a womens tour then swing away and yes I think she would make a cut.

And the whole, mens tour has more money so that is why they should be able to play on it does not hold water. The guy struggling to make ends meet would gladly take some of the money that was available on the LPGA.

we went through this discussion a few months ago, but I gladly jump right back in it. There is nothing wrong with her (or anybody else with or without penis) trying to play in a PGA Tour event w/o having valid tour card. What's wrong is - she's doing it through sponsor exemptions, not the monday qualifier. If she'd qualify - I'm 100% behind it. On the other hand - since it's actually sponsor's event - they can do whatever they want. THEY paying the prize money, not the PGA... so - let it be. There are tons of players getting in as exemptions, that we never hear about (because they're not good enough to make noise). She gets a lot of publicity and it's good for golf. And she's cute. I don't mind watching her every weekend on TV (ok, every thursday and friday...

The only player over there in the top 200 in the men's rankings is K.J. Choi, am I right?

c'mon, you're grasping. the fact is - she's 16 and a girl. Even if they're not top of the top - it's still pretty damn impressive.

I agree not to allow her to play on our tour, but i was talking to my golf pro about it and the LPGA tour has a rule in there list that NO men are allowed to play on their tour. The PGA tour does not have any speculations about who is allowed to play on it unfortunately.

And for her making the cut. ONE, let me repeat that, ONE player, KJ CHOI, is in the top 50 in world ranking. ONE ONE ONE ONE ONE. Just b/c she made the cut, does NOT mean that she is good enough to make the cut with real competition....

How about a wager on whether or not she ever smiles on camera. Or maybe an over/under on how many interviews she'll have to do until she sounds like she has more than a single brain cell.

Raf:

Ok, ok, let's calm down now. Do you really think that Asian Tour is THAT bad? C'mon guys. I'm arguing mostly just to keep the thread running (

) but don't go over board. No offense O.T., but your game is about 17 hcp index points behind the worst player on the Asian Tour All these guys are below scratch. Top 25 on the Asian Tour have stroke average below 72. Top 100 on PGA tour have stroke average below 72. Is the Asian Tour worse than PGA? No doubt. Can you compare these guys to your game? Not even close. LEAVE MY (future) GIRLFRIEND ALONE !

No offense taken...I know I'm not going to be playing the Asian Tour alongside golf luminaries like Jeev Milkha and Lee Seung-ho.

The thing is, I'm tired enough of the whole Michelle Wie "story" to get downright cranky at people who keep bringing it up. She has virtually no personality or charisma, she hasn't paid her dues (unlike Annika Sorenstam) and therefore does not deserve a sponsor's exemption to play in ANY events. I hate the fact that the decisions to award these exemptions are market driven, which means that IT'S YOUR FAULT that I can't watch golf on T.V. without seeing her freakishly distended torso swinging a club.

You sure you want to keep this thread going?

ok, now we got to the bottom of the issue... you hate HER, as a person, not the fact that she's a 16 years old kid (yes, a KID) can compete against man
You are an Old Cranky Tom I see
I agree with you only on one thing - the media coverage is horrible. In my book however - she's cute. Her golf swing is very nice and like to watch it.

About "deserving" sponsor exemptions... let's calm down and be objective for a second.
From the sponsor point of view - would a player, that is (a male) 45th on Nationwide Tour bring ANY additional viewers to boost advertisment revenue? How about getting (for some!) a cute teenager, that has a remote chance to compete and THOUSANDS of people(people=potential customers, ads targets!) will turn in just to watch HER?
Emotions are nice things to have, but let's don't lie to ourselfs - it's all about the money. Nobody invites her to "break the gender barrier", it's all about the benjamins...

I do understand market realities; I just don't like them. I realize the sponsors are simply giving the mob what it wants. I don't actually hate Michelle Wie at all: I hate the mob. If there wasn't fan interest she'd be playing (and winning) the Hawaiian Womens' Amateur, which is where she belongs.

And as to her "cuteness" or lack thereof, don't you think she has some sort of weird hairlip kind of thing going on? That detracts a bit from her appeal, at least in my book.
