Looking for a course in Ft. Lauderdale/Miami

I'm heading to Ft. Lauderdale in about 3 weeks and am looking for some advice on any good local courses.

I'm staying with some buddies at a Wyndham Resort in Pompano Beach. (I was there about a year ago and other than sleeping, didn't spend much time in PB. Didn't seem to be the friendliest of places.) If anyone has advice for a good golf course let me know. I'd appreciate anything. Thanks in advance.

Doral........shell out the $'s for the Blue Monster. One of the "must plays" in my book.

I'd love to play Doral! BUT I think I'd be the only one playing, since golf really isn't the idea of fun for the other people. At least I know they wouldn't shell out dough for 18 holes. I'd love to do that. How much per round? And is it easy to get on the course? I'm sure I'd be paired with some other people and my wife probably couldn't ride.

There are a ton of courses you can play, in Ft. Laudi try the Weston area.

I live in Ft. Lauderdale. If you are staying in Pompano, you can play Plantation Preserve or TPC Heron Bay. Emerald Hills in Hollywood is supposed to be a pretty good track too although I've never played. All three of those options will probably be pricey because we are still in season until May 1. Plantation can be VERY crowded too.

I forgot about Deer Creek as well. Very nice track. There has been a coupon in the Sun Sentinel on Mondays to play there for $35 during the week after 3:45pm. Very pricey otherwise but very nice track out in Deerfield.
