Ok, So I told my wife that I am going to play on Sunday...it's been like 3 weeks, and I am having withdrawls!!!! She got upset and gave me grief about it. Something about leaving all morning, and......well you get the picture.

I was wondering...does this happend to everyone or should I be counting my blessing that my wife actually wants to spend time with me?

I thought it would be interesting topic!

It's the indian, not the arrow! But it sure is nice to have good arrows!!!!!

Im right there with you heard it all before....I tell her.... "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" repeat repeat repeat

Doesn't really happen to me that much. When it has I've offered to take her with me. Either way women think much differently than men do. She may see things around the house that she thinks are needing immediate attention and you may not. My advice would be take care of the "honey do" list on saturday and take her out for dinner or something. Then go play on sunday.

My wife and I have an agreement that I play one day every weekend. The only time I catch any guff is if I try to get both days on the weekend or a day through the week.

i play often.. most of the time it's cool.. but sometimes i get the "all you do is dj, go to the gym and play golf"
it's understandable with how much i play, think, talk, watch, and include golf in my life

My wife and I hashed this out years ago.

I am sorry, life is too short to pass up something you love because your wife is trying to control you.

I guess you have to ask yourself this question, "Am I willing to endure the nagging she will give me, or am I willing to give up something I love to keep her happy?"

IMO, she is being selfish. My wife has a hobby she loves as much as I love golf, gardening. She understands my thinking.

All I have to do is make sure I hook the truck up to the horse trailer and send the wife to the mountains to ride her horse and I can then play as much as I can afford. Since she just let my buy custom built clubs, it better be a lot.

Lets see here, you havent played golf in 3 weeks and you told your wife that you were going to play golf on Sunday and she blew up at you?

Dont take this the wrong way, but unless you work a lot and arent home all that much to spend time with her, your wife sounds kinda needy and controlling. If she gets mad at you for playing once every 3 weeks, wow, I feel bad for ya. Me personally, Im single, so I could play every day and not catch a bit of grief over it. Even if I were married or had a serious girlfriend, she would need to understand how important golf is to me, that I played golf long before I met her and if she couldnt respect that, well, lets just say that the relationship wouldnt last very long. IMO, there is a very fine line between respecting the other person's feelings and allowing yourself to be controlled by that person.

Fourputt, you've got it right...problem is I'm too young, and broke to retire

JK I guess it's a matter of compromise....as DJYoshi mentioned i do eat, breath, sleep, and even golf....this sport has taken me to a consumption of energy level that I have not experienced in years...since way before even dating my now wife.... And to throw an added wrench to the mix she is 4 months pregnant, so i guess everything becomes a big deal... Thanks for letting me vent!!!!

My wife is money in the bank. She never complains about me playing golf. She only rolls her eyes when she sees a certain size box in the mail. To be fair, though, I'm constantly buying and selling stuff so she's pretty cool with that, too.

I hardly ever play on weekends. I usually go out late in the afternoon or on Wednesdays when I'm not working. This way, I don't take any time away from her or my two favorite "caddies": my two boys.

Find a balance between what you like and what she likes. The more often you do this the better you opportunities for playing golf.

Crey, I feel your pain man ... my wife, too, is 3 months pregnant and sometimes I get crap from her about this too, but it's more of a "that's money we could be putting away for the baby" approach ...

I have been searching HIGH & LOW to get the best golf deals and most of them consist of either early morning tee-times or "twilight" all you can golf specials ... so I show her what I am spending, vs what I could be spending and she usually ends up being OK with it ... This has worked out to my benefit another way ... wife is a teacher, and I have an erratic schedule so I play the early morning tee-times or the "twilight" tee times (when she is working her 2nd job) and there is no issue with time away from each other ...

My wife seems pretty ok with me golfing. It's become my replacement for videogames so at least I'm getting out of the house and doing some walking. The only thing she doesn't like is when I start talking about getting new gear :) We have a pretty good system for money though. I make more than her by a decent amount so we put all the money into 1 account and each get an equal allowance each pay period. That's money we can both blow on whatever hobbies/crap we want. This way she can't complain if something new arrives as long as I'm not stealin from the family moneys.

I catch some flack from my girlfriend sometimes. My best advice is to make sure your lady is VERY sexually satisfied the night before you are going to play. Not joking here either. Ive noticed that makes things MUCH easier the next morning when you are creeping off to the course. If you are already doing this, and shes still giving you flack, well then, youve got a tough one.

    • Rory’s once again in a position to win a major, and The Masters at that, but having BDC breathing down your neck can’t be a good feeling. He has a lot of presence on the course when playing. Fingers crossed that Rory can get revenge for the 2024 US Open and finally collect his career slam.
    • Day 266: mirror work this evening. Working on the same stuff.
    • Day 194 - 2025-04-12 Limited time, but got five minutes in.
    • I've seen/heard this question in every sport.
    • I’m definitely pulling for Rory. I must say I wish BDC hadn’t gone to LIV. I like his YouTube content and just don’t get why he felt he had to go there. It’s obvious he loves the game and the fans, and he’s not getting near the hype when he plays those exhibition matches on LIV.    I’d like to see Rose have a strong finish as well. Most of all though, I wanna see Rory have a solid Sunday.
