Talk about a rough year - Vijay is really struggling. He hasn't won on tour in 2006, and his play on Sundays has certainly been suspect (shot a 81 at the Wachovia).

Do you think his age is really showing now? In 2004 (when he won nine times), we were all saying that he gets better with age! Like Phil, he may need to take some time off.

Any thoughts as to what's bugging him?

I was watching whichever show on the Golf Channel and they mentioned he's somewhere in the middle of reworking his swing.

Ever since he went to this HI BORE driver he can not seem to overpower the course anymore. He was the first to play driver and wedge from anywhere is beeter than 3 wood midiron golf and now it aint happening for him.

I did recall him saying he was working on some things in his swing because he'd gotten away from the way he was playing in late 2004 and early 2005. He doesn't have a teacher - and hasn't for 20+ years or so - so it might take him a little while. He shows flashes, so...

I know the guy is a machine. He works out like he's 20, he practices like he's 20, and he plays more than a high school golfer during the season.

I definately think he is showing his age. I think the rigors of his schedule are just wearing him down. I read articles before the Masters saying he was playing too much. I know he has played this many tournaments in the past, but maybe he needs to slow down his tourney schedule.

I'm not saying he needs to FILJAM the season, but take a break every now and again!

I wish I could have a slump like his. He is in the top 10 in many of the tours stats including 8th in scoring average (70.33). It is just a matter of time until he wins. He is just in a winning slump not an overall game slump. It seems he just can't put together 4 great rounds all in the same tournament to win.

Actually his final round scoring avg. (70.4) is ranked 25th on tour so that isn't his problem. His third round scoring avg. (70.7) is a bit higher and is ranked 54th. His play has definately been better before the cut. (70.19 before the cut versus 70.55 after)

Dottie Pepper had an interesting theory on TGC the other night. She said because he uses such heavy clubs that maybe he has stretched out some of the musculature in his shoulders and back...because at the top of his swing he is not as controlled. His club is sometimes a little wobbly on top. I don't know if it's true but it was interesting

He's over 40...and being pressed by a bunch of guys half his age. He's a good player and a hard worker, but NOBODY can keep it going forever.

He's not hitting the HiBore this week, he's gone back to the Comp. So thats one less excuse. Why he's reworking his swing I have no idea, seemed to work fine for the last couple year's......BUT then again I said that about Tiger as well

I guess we won't be seeing the Cleveland commercial this weekend of Vijay telling us how great the HiBore is . . . Is David Toms still using the HiBore?

veej will come out of his slump once he's done with his swing changes; but i don't think he'll ever have another 2004. no more than 2-3 wins per year for the next 3-4 tears.
