The worst from a modern premium brand (at least they were for a little while back in 90's), was a Goldwin ADVP driver. It was made of aluminum and just felt horrible. At the time I had the ADVP irons and loved them so I was excited to find a used Goldwin driver at a used club store. It was expensive new, but they had this for $25 so I almost bought it without even trying it. I probably hit 10-12 balls with it, thinking that I must have just hit it wrong (it as a much bigger head than the driver I was playing with at the time). Finally I realized it wasn't me but the club.

I remember those things.....light as a feather and results were all over the place, too.

worst newish driver from major OEM... Taylormade CGB Max - just an awful feel and couldn't hit anything but hooks.

worst club period... Knight Driver (K-mart special) - this was about 13 years ago when a friend bought one, just a total POS, we broke it after just a couple buckets.

worst irons... old school Big Berthas and just about anything with a super wide sole, e.g. Nike Slingshot, Callaway Fusion, Cleveland HiBore Irons , etc.

worst putters... The Heavy Putter

ugliest clubs... F2 Face Forward Wedges, Any Taylormade Iron, and Diablo Draw Drivers .
My Clubs: Callaway FT-i Tour LCG 9.5° w/ Matrix Ozik Xcon 6 stiff; Sonartec GS Tour 14° w/ Graphite Design Red Ice 70 stiff; Adams Idea Pro 2h(18°) & 3h(20°) w/ Aldila VS Proto 80 stiff; Adams Idea Pro Forged 4-PW w/ TT Black Gold stiff; Cleveland CG12 DSG RTG 52°-10° & 58°-10°; Odyssey...

I'm certainly not in love with them, but NO, they are an exception to what I said. However, most TM irons are terrible looking, full of graphics and other nonsense. I considered getting the R7TP's based on feel and look at address, but couldn't get over the way the club looked overall.

i remember those too. weren't they like $500 when they first came out? (the Goldwin ADVP drivers)

I got a maxfli driver (powermax?) and it goes clunk and the ball doesn't go very far compared to my other drivers.

hehe, a buddy of mine actually replaced his Callaway BB 460 for a Maxfli Powermax driver. he kills the ball with that thing. just goes to show you how personal a club can be. one person will hate it, and another will love it

My dear mother bought a Rawlings 400cc driver for me about 6 or 7 years ago. I think it was out of an ad in the Wall Street Journal. $40 club and not worth 10% of that, at least given the grip it had on it. I think the idea was to see how slick they could make it.

My first round with it was on the Saratoga course adjacent to SPAC. Rainy afternoon and I play without a glove to begin with. It was 50/50 whether the ball would shoot right into the trees, or the club would shoot out of my hands into the trees.

That club is still in the closet because I can't imagine it's worth anything, on ebay or elsewhere. Plus, it did have a great heart behind the purchase.

On my own accord, the worst fit had to be a 62 degree Hogan chunk special wedge purchased in summer '96, and King Cobra 3 and 5 woods bought at about the same time. They had strong lofts, 14 and 18, and generally felt like bricks. I might have managed 10 feet airborne a few times. At the same time I bought a King Cobra 17 degree driving iron that I wouldn't dream of parting with. I literally get 5+ times the height with that driving iron as the 18 degree 5 wood ever managed.

BTW, I shuffled those Cobra woods to my dad as a so-called present. He reshafted them with Proforce Gold senior flex and couldn't get them airborne himself.

I was just thinking that as I was reading this thread !

Though I never hit one personally, I was instantly reminded of the Hammer thread on this board. Too funny
