I can hit the ball pretty good when I catch it but i've read my driver isn't the most forgiving, and I struggle to hit it solid every time. What Driver's have good forgivness without sacrificing distance?

The Nike SQ Sumo2 drivers are, from my understanting, rather forgiving. The 5900 hits it a long way, too.

To the OP...I'm gonna let you in on a sleeper driver that costs about $50. The original Cleveland Launcher 460. It benched my Ping G5 immediately. It is workable as well, if you really need to do that. But I am amazed every time I take that driver out. Nothing feels like being able to go hard at the ball, and having no concern about missing the fairway. I hope you find the same sensation in whatever driver you go with.

go try a bunch out. I'd look at taylormade, ping, or callaway (Callaway now has a buy a driver and get a fairway wood for a dollar promotion going). I'd stay away from titleist because from my experience they're harder to hit.

A friend of mine had the orig sumo and now has the sumo2 and both are pretty forgiving. It he can shoot them straight with his crazy swing it has to be.

A nice and easy swing but for equipment wise, although I'm not a fan of the square head drivers, they do hit very straight.

the big ben cs3, i used to hit big power fades that i just couldnt fix and i was reccomended this driver and the bh5 irons since hten i dropped my handicap by 9 ive never hit so many fairways, maybe its just me but it seems to be realy forgiving, might be worth a try

It's been said earlier, but the SQ2 5900 or the new Dymo2. I hit the Dymo2 the other day and man it went straight straight straight...pretty much every single time. I was pretty suprised because I'm generally an erratic driver. I'm probably not going to get it because I think it's my swing I have to work on but if all else fails, it's not a bad idea.

I just recently purchased the Nike SQ2 5900. I love it!!! It toned down my slice unbelieveably!!!! Now when i miss hit, i hit a fade to the right side of the fairway vs a huge slice 50yrds ob. Very forgiving, even misshits tend to go well over 200yrds (with roll of course).

I found the R7 460, (the silver one) to be very straight for me with the correct weighting, and I had a pretty big slice.

Nike Sumo2 5900 is your driver. If you even come close to having a square clubface at impact, you will find the fairway.

Yeah my high school team isn't that good. I shoot low-mid 80's on a good day and im like our 5th or 6th best player. I just started playing this year and my goal is to be a 5 handicap by next season. But I think something might have been wrong with my driver. Recently I hadn't been hitting it that much further than my 3 wood, even on a good one. Today I skyed one and I slammed it down, and it broke. I didn't even slam it that hard so im teeing off with a 3 wood for a while. Im getting fit for my next driver, and im going to make sure I get a more forgiving driver this time.

Sometimes a different strategy is needed. The driver you have may work with some mods. You are hitting the 3 wood better because of the shorter length. The pros use drivers much shorter than standard. If the head feels to soft, have it tipped and play a 44 to 44 1/2" driver for better results. Your 3 wood is probably 43" long, and a more upright swing that is much easier to hit consistently. Bring the driver more inline with your 3 wood in length and you will find more fairways.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
