Hey Guys,

My buddies are law students who try to play a few times a week. We end up going to the same course about 90% of the time and we're all starting to get a little bored of the same course. Do you guys have any ideas for something besides our usual stroke play/match play/skin format we usually use? Anything to make an old muni look new again?

Thanks in advance!

One idea that I read about once is where you play "worst ball". Make it a 2v2 competition. Makes you hit from harder lies and both people have to make putts to end the hole.

Move all the way up to the ladies tees and have at it. It'll change the entire dynamic of the course for you and make for some interesting risk/reward decisions!

Play with one club on a hole from tee to putt. For an example us only a 5 or 6 iron on a par 5.

It will make you appreciate your putter and wedges.

There are any number of games that can make the play interesting. Quite a few have already been mentioned. One thing that we used to do in my regular group at a course where everyone was a member was this. We would play from all the tee boxes. It is amazing how much different a course is when you play from different tees. One time we might play red-white-blue. 1st hole we play from reds, 2nd from whites, 3rd from blues, etc. Then the back nine we would reverse it and go blue-white-red. This particular course has 6 each of par 3-4-5. So occasionally we would play all par 3's from the whites, and all par-5's from the reds, or all par-4s from the blues. It really helped out to keep things interesting and at least make the course look different.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

We play wolf all of the time. Round robin if you have a 3-some. We also play a game where you can pick any two clubs to play with and thats all you play with!
