Hi all, new here. Everyone starts somewhere...this spring kicked off my fourth full season, and I'm a low-mid teen handicap. Sometimes I shoot low. A friend of mine dragged me tooth-and-nail to the golf course, (I used to think it was for booshie old farts ) and I've thanked him ever since. I started out with a 250yrd, 40yrd slice drive. I soon straightened them out and I'll be frank, I bomb em...and there aren't many shots I don't have in my bag.

Since then, I've picked up some gear, picked up some knowledge, and picked up some bar tabs, lol.

I do something golf-related 7 days a week. Typically 2-3 rounds of 18 (sometimes 27-36). I play many places for free (pays to have friends, lol). When not on the course I'm on the practice greens, range, and putting/chipping in my house when weather is real bad. Connecticut golf is a 7-8 month season, so I travel to tame the beast in the winter.

My favorite moment on the course is the do or die miracle shot, in a high pressure situation. Put up or shutup time. I'm not saying I don't back off when mandated, but aggression is always my first thought/option. While I'm out there for fun, I'm definately trying to stomp my opponent with a smile on my face. And help their game (if they ask). Nothing irritates me more than unsolicited golf advice, and I'm not gonna be that guy...

My friends and I often make bets on the course to make things interesting (whatever they are comfortable with). I've played in whopping 3 scramble tournaments, and helped win all 3. Went 64-65-64. That's the extent of my tourney play. I don't want to join a tourney unless I think I can win outright, and I'm not ready for the big boys yet...I've played with great and terrible players alike and I like to think I know right where I stand, although this is a crazy game,,,

Anyways I'm looking forward to meeting some cool people, thanks for listening. Now stop reading and get out there.... lolol j/k

That's only if it stops raining this year!!! I woke up a short time ago to pouring rain yet again!

In the winter months I head to FL for a couple of weeks and a sporatic week or two whenever I get bored of being in the N/E. About a month or so ago I finally got my nephew to take a trip down. We covered 5 different courses of 18 that week... tried for 6 but Chi Chi's was booked solid for weeks. LOL .

Glad to have you on board. I'm another diehard CT golfer. Quick question: where do you play/practice? A good friend of mine and I are looking to play a bunch of different public courses this summer, just so we don't get stuck at the same few private facilities every day -- we're scoping it out to find some new tracks.

Thanx alex and 207,, I travel all over for courses but I guess you'd call my home course Traditions of wallingford. They got a pretty island green about 150 yrds. Lyman Orchard is right down the road and has a member feel to it, great courses. I'm on the practice green at hunters in meriden alot. Ranges are a dime a dozen, but Torza's in cromwell is canopied for bad weather. I also mini golf often to keep my putting fresh, dumb as it sounds. I have a friend over at farmington woods in farm., one of my favorites...I sneak out at night to Highland greens in prospect for quick 9 under the lights too. Wintonbury hills in bloomfield is one of my faves...
