I never really was a huge Phil fan, but his behaviour and attitude during the final round was just fantastic., and I'm converted. Not only was he acknowledging everyone all the time, but even "low fiving" fans after a bogey and throwing a child his ball after bogeying crucial holes.
Hate the term, but really, a "class act".

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

As someone who has always liked Phil, I can assure that type of behavior from him is not new. Unfortunately though, neither is his habit of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in major championships. It's getting a little sad in that he's now becoming a sympathetic figure.

I just rushed home from work because I had no access to the scores today and was really glad to hear he finished 2nd, then really depressed to hear what happened.

Phil is not a sympathetic figure...christ, the guy made $40 million last year and has won 3 majors...could he have won this one -- yes, but so could have Tiger. After everything he has been through the last month, and with weather delays making this a crazy tournament, there is no shame in finishing the way he did -- it takes crazy mental toughness to deal with a US Open finish without all the bullsh*t he has gone through -- I think he showed a ton of guts just hanging in there and giving himself a chance -- PMick did not have his "A" game and simply gutted it out. Kudos to Duval as well...what a huge, huge confidene boost this gives him, and he will almost assuredly retain his card for next year with a $560,000 payday (needs about 200k more, but think he will easily get it).... Kudos to R. Barnes as well...it has been a long road, and that was a great effort. Finally -- congrats to the Champion.....Well Played, Mr. Glover.

That's about as silly as the comment from Terell Owens manager when she tried to dismiss talk of him maybe attempting suicide with the line "Terell has a 100 million dollar reason for living".

I've never been a Mickelson fan. However, this week, I watched him sign about 2,000 autographs during the Wednesday practice round and just have a great time with the fans all week. He really knows how to connect with people as long as there is a rope separating them.

However, the face Mickelson puts on for the media and the fans is much different from the way he acts behind the closed lockerroom doors. He's one of the Top 5 douchebags on the Tour.

Iv'e always liked Phil and I've always liked Tiger, damn the Master's this year was "magic" for about 40 minutes.

Phil thinks he is the greatest shotmaker in the world (and maybe he is)...what I love is that he has the balls to pull the shots off. He can hit it a ton to boot. I don't know...he just seems to be a top fuel dragster doing a wheelie stand and not lifting on the throttle most the time.

Where as Tiger reminds me of the Liquid Metal Terminator dude, scary in all aspects of the game, a killing machine if you will.

Please rate the top 5 douchebags on tour.....in the locker room of course.

You must be reminded that these guys are competitors...so maybe he's playing an angle for an edge...just a thought.

Phil's been signing autographs and high-fiving fans for many years. I'm sad that he couldn't hang on today. 5 U.S. Open 2nd place finishes....

However, the face Mickelson puts on for the media and the fans is much different from the way he acts behind the closed lockerroom doors. He's one of the Top 5 douchebags on the Tour.

have you seen him behind closed lockerroom doors? how is he one of the top 5 douchebags on tour??? cuz of the old FIGJAM rumor? or do you know something the rest of us dont?

I became a huge of Phil about 2 years ago, right as I was getting more into the game itself. For years, just as an average sports fan, I couldn't stand him. But learning more about the game and getting more into the tour, he has been awesome to root for -

i had some of the biggest douche chills i've had in my life watching him walk down the last par 3 to loud cheers. The guy is a great sports figure and someone who will go down in golf history as one the key figures of golf from the 90s onward till he hits about 50.

This locker room stuff is so stupid it makes my head spin. Have you ever had someone at your office that is well liked by the bosses, his clients etc.. and always is enthusiastic and in a good mood and just loves talking about work and their approach to different parts of it ? Doesn't it get really annoying sometimes? That is my guess as to where he gets his rep from -

Well, we are Phil's "clients" so to speak, not his coworkers. Just like you'd love someone to work extra hard for you, even if it meant their coworkers thought they were a brown noser, shouldn't we love the fact that Phil lays it on the line to win, taking exciting risks to do so, all the while appreciating and respecting the fact that the fans are what fund those huge purses he brings home?

If it's closed how do you know he is? I don't think your on the tour.

I have always liked Phil and his go-for-it-all attitude. He's a real crowd-pleaser.

Tiger is so freaking cold with the fans, he is a douchebag to the media and really doesn't come across as a nice guy, he can't even fake it. I don't know what happened to him, he wasn't like this before, maybe its roid rage kicking in. (JK I love tiger too, he just acts so cold out there now)

How phil behaves in the locker room is none of my business, he is great to the media, the fans, and his family, thats all that really matters.

I feel like a lot of the FIGJAM crap comes from other players being jealous of Phil

He's Tiger Woods. Arguably the most recognizable athlete in the WORLD [EVER]. It's really hard to be friendly, especially to the fans, all the time. It gets tiresome.
