Simple question: what's the best free web host?

I haven't had to look for as long as I can remember, and I'd like to be able to recommend some free web hosts that have minimal or no advertising to people so that they can host their scorecards (like this ) somewhere.

So, what's the best free web host? Help your fellow Sand Trap members and Scorecard owners out.

I am interested in the replies. This is the only thing that is keeping me from posting mine here.

Someone recommended http://www.000webhost.com/ on my blog entry about this: http://nslog.com/2009/06/18/free_web_hosting .

And I've moved this into Golf Talk (where it doesn't belong) because it's not getting much action in "Announcements and Tech Support." I'll move it back once it gets a few good responses.

Iacas>>>I acually checked into my ISP and I have 10mb free space that comes with my account. I don't know why I didn't think of that before hand but thanks for the advice.

Netfirms is free with domain names registered (or transferred) through them. It is pretty basic what you can do and the ads are a line on the top of the page.

The following will give you an idea of what is restricted:

Settings Overview
PHP
Use this tool to set the default PHP parser for your .php files. PHP 4 is enabled by default and works with virtually all applications that require PHP.Note:This feature is not included in your current hosting plan. Account upgrade is required.

htaccess
The .htaccess security allows you to password protect directories. Once enabled a visitor will only be allowed to access a file within a directory if their username and password match the .htaccess file.Note:This feature is not included in your current hosting plan. Account upgrade is required.

SSH
The secure shell allows you to access your web files though an encrypted connection using a standard Unix command line interface. This is an advanced tool used primarily for Ruby on Rails programming.Note:This feature is not included in your current hosting plan. Account upgrade is required.

I recently created a site with Webs.com - totally free for a personal site (you can upgrade for additional features), fast and responsive interface, I'd recommend it.

I followed Catul's advice and just set up a site using Webs.com - worked flawlessly.

You need to export your rounds first. Then, go to the folder where you exported and you should see two folders and a couple files. All of that needs to be copied to webs.com.

Iacas can probably help you better than me. Also, if I'm not mistaken, directions are detailed in the manual, but I can't remember that for sure.

Well, it might be there or it might be in the location you've specified in the preferences for "Web Export" save location.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
