Wow... almost no breeze at all, 105 degrees, 60 oz. of fluids drank, and 78 strokes... At the end, I was glad the round was over. Even the deer that ran across the last green was probably moving just to get a little wind to evaporate the sweat. Three gloves were soaked. We rode in a cart and discovered the on-off switch for the air conditioning was the foot pedal. While waiting to hit, hide in the shade of a tree, then zip the cart to your ball to get some relief before trying to summons up the energy to swing. Three groups playing in the bet and no one had a good score today. Just seeing was hard with all the sunscreen dripping into your eyes.

Hit the range, chipped and putted today. Heat index was 102 with a nasty amount of humidity. Needless to say, I sweat my arse off.

I've been hitting the pool after work until about 7, then playing 5-6 holes before calling it quits for the night. 18 holes doesn't even sound like fun in this heat... especially after working outside all day.

I lived in east Texas (Longview/Tyler) for two years and never even dreamed of playing there during June, July or August. We had some high 90s this last week here in Milwaukee. I went to the range and some twilight golf but nothing during the day.

i was born and raised in east texas. living in dallas, it's just as hot but not quite as humid. the heat doesn't really bother me too much. i walked 45 holes this past week. i was going to play today, but i drank too much wine earlier. i'd personally rather play in the heat than in the cold. but that's just me.

I tried to play 9 today. I knew it would be too hot to get a full round in when I heard on the radio that it was about 110 degree heat index and about 40-50% humidity.... Damn Missouri!

I figured I would try to walk, I did that a few weeks ago, but it was way too hot! I made it through 6 and my score was up higher than it usually is after 9! I couldn't hold onto the club and looked like I jumped in the pond, which may have been a good idea... haha
Tomorrow is supposed to be in the low 80's and 10-20mph wind, so I guess we'll see how I do on a different course... Never played this one yet, but I guess it is better than today's heat.

The only ways I can do it here in Houston is either get up at 0530 and be at the course as soon as they open, or wait until 6:30 p.m. and try to get 9 holes in. I did have a pleasant practice evening today at a local range from about 7:30 to 8:30; of course they have lights. Even starting real early I fade out after about 12 holes...it is either that or wait until October, so....

Oh my... I have stories of golf in Houston on hot, humid days. Worse than Florida and worse than 115 degrees in Arizona -- its the humidity and lack of any air movement. You would hate to go down into low lying areas. You could actually feel the cooking effect in such places. Actually harder to breathe.

One day, putting on the 16th hole in only 95 degrees in Houston (but with its high humidity,) I lined up, got ready and was remembering, don't let it side low---and the next thing I know is three guys are picking me up asking if we need an ambulance. Flat passed out without even knowing it was coming on. Doctors said I was fine after an IV of electolytes. From that moment on, I drink water or sport drinks early and often and advise all of you to do that when playing in the heat. I had no idea how dangerous it can be and how your blood pressure can go so low you just pass out.

It was 96 and 453% humidity on thursday when I played. Drank a gallon and a half over 18 holes. Speaking of deer, we were held up on the 14th tee when a button buck decided to snack on the ladies tee in front of us. Took about 10 minutes to get him out of the way and he followed us for 2 holes along the trees. Kinda cool. I usually am a bit meaner to deer, and they end up as jerky when I see one, lol. But this one must be accustomed to humans and loud smacking noises. It was almost like a pet but it took off when I went to pet it.

I grew up in Houston and lived there up until about 7-8 months ago. It's funny because up here in AR right now it's 100+ and everyone is complaining it's so humid; to me, it feels so dry because I'm used to the foggy, sticky, nasty Houston humidity. As for playing in the heat, I walked 10-11 holes after work on Tuesday and Wednesday. I've decided for the rest of the summer that I'll be getting a cart instead.....

FL panhadle is absolutely oppressive. Went in to the proshop and told them I was gonna walk. "I have to get acclimatized eventually, right?" The reply was "acclimatized? More like hospitalized!" I think the starter thought I was psycho so he paired me up with a guy with a cart and told me to ride.

Seriously though, it's 91 at 6AM, and was getting to about 103 (heat index of 113) in the afternoon until Thursday when it only got to 96, but it's starting to come back up.

Stay hydrated my friends . Do that, and you can do anything out there no matter the temp.

I played twilight today, 4-8 or so, got 18 in. Wasn't terribly hot but a little uncomfortable I guess. I had a ton of water although the middle 12 or so didn't have any water left in the refill coolers, which was rough. Walking 18 midday last weds. was a lot worse.

Wow, I definitely know exactly what yall are talking about. It's 11 PM and the heat index is still 99. It feels like you're breathing through a washcloth out there. Spent 2.5-3 hrs on the range this afternoon, and by the time I was done, I was soaked in sweat, all the way down to my shorts. Does anyone have recommendations on ways to keep a little cooler?

Stay inside?

Seriously though: shade, lots of water, ice cold towel on the neck, and synthetic fabrics.

Buncha weaklings!!! :P

I walked 3-7 for 18 holes the other day in 100+ weather. It's definitely crazy hot, but I wanted to play. I get tired faster and sweat a TON but it's not bad at all. Being outside on grass beats tennis court temperatures ANY DAY!

But I'm liking this.... finally an excuse to hit into the trees ;)
