Made the plunge and picked up some custom fitted irons today...

I stopped by the local pro shop today to check out their selection of irons. After hitting the Callaway X-22's and Ping S57's, he showed me a set of Mizuno MP-67's. My jaw hit the floor when I saw the price, so I had him tape up the 7 iron so I could demo them with the other two. I've heard a lot of good things about the MP-67's and was really impressed.

30 minutes later I walked out of the store after a custom fitting session for the MP-67's. I'm having the shafts lengthened an inch and regripping them with Lamkin Crossline Midsize grips. I also picked up a dozen Srixon Z-URC balls with a nifty free towel! The total? Under $500

Driver: ZL 10.5⁰
Fairway: Burner 15⁰/19⁰
Irons: MP-67
Wedges: 1018 52⁰/56⁰/60⁰

I have a good, good friend in Houston I golf with once a year in Myrtle Beach. He absolutely swears by Mizuno clubs. I've hit his irons a few times (when I've wrestled them out of his tightly clenched hands) and am not a good enough golfer to know the differences keenely, but he absolutely loves his Mizuno irons.

Sounds like a great deal but more important, sounds like you're extremely happy about your purchase. I'm also guessing it would take 8 or 9 slaps directly to the face to wipe off that sh!t-eating grin from your face!!! You'll be the happiest golfer on the course for a few weeks, eh?? HAHAHAHA

I couldn't believe it! I wasn't hitting the standard length very well, and after trying out the extended demo I was sold. I hit about 10 balls and all of the were as pure as Mother Teresa. I can't wait to pick them up and head to the range!

My scores this summer have been hovering around 41-43 and 83-86, it'd be nice to see some benefit from having a set of irons that actually fit me. My goal's this summer are to break 40 and to shoot an 80, hopefully this is money well spent.

      Day 4, 1/2/26.  Played 18 today;  didn't get a chance to warm up (had I known the range was closed, I'd have hit balls at home first).  Played okay, 92 with three balls in the water.  It was raining for more than half the round and I didn't quite appreciate before today just how much I benefit from roll on both drives and approach shots.  I did not adapt well to this change until about hole 15, which is something I have to figure out.

      Day 459 - 2026-01-02 Had two guys on GEARS Hybrid, so I hopped on afterward (I'm going to do this a lot more often now). So… I've signed myself up for another month of backswing work in two ways: A little more extension of the trail elbow (got into the upper 90s) Less pelvis turn (low 50s).
