Here is what I recieved from Ping today. I will be going down to the factory on July 31st to get fitted for the complete set, providing they have them by then.

Mike,

The official release date for the new line is July 27th, at which point all the
information should be public knowledge. When it comes to having them here for
fitting purposes, it will also be after the 27th until we have them here to view
and be fit for. I would call in advance before coming to make sure we have the
new stuff actually here in the fitting building.

I hope this helps, and thank you in advance for your support of PING!!

I hate the look. I like the concept that they've created with the colored dots.

I don't think I will ever play Ping irons, though I have hit my uncle's Beryllium Ping irons very well when visiting without mine. They're nice, but ugly. Hence not wanting to play them...

Ping Eye2's were my first irons and like them despite the super high ball flight. Even the G10's went fairly high. Don't know if I have to attribute this to the shafts but for some reason they tend to go high with their stock shafts. I think they look just fine.

Found it interesting that most of the people talking about looks of the Ping irons are Mizuno iron players.

What are you talking about? Are you trying to imply that Mizunos are worse looking that PING? Sorry mate but you're mistaken. PING designs for irons and drivers (I only like their putters) are really lacking taste, and the colors are horrible, at least in my opinion. (The G10 driver head for example is a disaster in design). Mizzies on the other hand have this simple, clean crisp look to everything they make.

Nobody said they would win a beauty contest but they can win you money from your playing partners

It's funny that when I look at my scorecard I have never seen any pictures of my clubs, only numbers.

I have played mostly blades but don't get out much anymore so I have decided to just get a set of Pings and retire. Besides, I only live a few miles down the road incase I ever do have any problems or need them adjusted.

This thread was only started to make anyone aware of when the new Pings were coming out, not start a forged vs. cast vs.blades. vs.cavity back war. We all have seen to many of those in the past.
Enjoy what you play and play what you enjoy and may this be your best year ever.

Wow is this a disappointing thread. I was really hoping someone had more information about the G15's. The other dates I've seen for the G15's has been in September so to see a July date is great.

As for aesthetics, to each their own. There are some older Ping irons that don't do it for me. The G10 iron's are art. As for Mizuno, the MX-100 and MX-200's look great. I really don't like the looks of the Cally X-22's on address but I'm still considering them b/c they hit so well. Everyone has likes or dislikes but if I hit it really well, I'll game a butt-ugly club in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the news. Sometime in the fall or winter I want to get into a players cb, so I have time to practice with them before next season starts. (we lose at least 4 months of golf season in WI, gotta make the most of it)... so I'll be interested to hearhow you like the i15's and what they are like.

I apologize if I've been offensive to any PING fans here. My new putter is a G5i anyway.
I just wanted to say that PING irons and drivers are just not my cup of coffee. I do no like the designs of both the G5 and the G10 drivers, and the absent ferrule on all their irons just puts me off.

The older PINGs like BeCu and EYE are way too ugly for my tastes as well. But I DO know for a fact that PING makes great irons/drivers when it comes to performance. As for putters I am certainly a fan, specially the Anser putters and the Redwood series.

When it comes to irons I prefer the sleek clean look of Mizzies. I even prefer the MP looks to the MX looks, but I know for sure my skill level will not allow an MP. (But I just had to buy the MP Fli Hi 2 iron to compensate for that complex of mine )

My achievements:
Eagles: 0
Birdies: 18

what's the difference between the G and the I series?

A Work in Progress:

Bag: Physics Stand Bag (ebay dirt cheap special)
Driver: Knight GTi Tour 285 10*

G-15 driver: Game improvement but sits square
I-15 driver: Pro version and sits square to slightly open

I-15 irons: this years combination of G series long irons and I series short irons so you don't have to mix the two on your own. That's what I am going to like most, not having to decide where to split the set at.

    • Take this with a grain of salt but, when I see high speed/high leverage freewheeling swings like yours (from your swing video), it makes me think that considering the combo of outward and downward pressure required, you might not be applying sufficient downward pressure through impact. Tendency is more out than down. A good analogy is keeping an inflated ball pushed down underwater in a pool. I think it is the hardest force/pressure component to master.  It's a guess. I also think back pain is a symptom, theoretically speaking.
    • Heron Ridge in Virginia Beach yesterday, hole #7 for those in the area.  Would this box be considered an immovable obstruction with free relief?  (It was in my back swing as the hole was to the left of my ball in the picture.)  You can see that it sits just off the cart path.  How about all the mud and tire tracks?  When I addressed the ball my feet were sinking in wet mud so I took relief for standing water.  Right or wrong?  Thoughts?

    • Fair enough but I think a firm message was warranted here. Having said that I hope the that the phone was returned later  I would think it was.
    • Not sure how I feel about that. Heckling is always been part of sports and a professional athlete should be able to ignore comments and continue on with their play.  Having said that, historically golf has a higher standard of etiquette. I agree with you that fans who are a problem shouldn’t be tolerated. I think should be removed from the premises in hopes to discourage behavior, but I’m not sure I can justify Rory taking the guys phone from him.
