Played my first ever scramble at my local course today. 4 person. It was a fun time and we ended up shooting an 80 (which is pretty bad but we had a 15 handicapper Im about a 25 and the other 2 were over 30). Anyways the group ahead of us shot 28 on the back nine par 37. While I dont think this is impossible i find it hardly reasonable (considering we saw half of theireshots because they were ahead of us). We saw all of their shots on a par 3 go right (all off the green) and they were putting so im guessing they chipped on and then they got a 2 on that hole wtf? Anyways when we were done we went to the club house and we were in last by alot. I mean over 10 strokes. The group behind us was drunk and spraying shots left and right. Some of which almost hit us. But they still beat us by like over 10? You could buy mulligans which might have something to do with it. But the play at my golf course is not that good i call some BS!!

You never enter a scramble expecting to win or for the event to even be fair. The most you can expect or hope for is to have fun with your guys, make a few clutch shots or putts, and have a nice dinner afterwards with your pals.

Texas Scrambles are great events for cheats to play in.... there's a group of fellas at my club who are always in the prizes in group competitions but when it comes to strokeplay events none of them can break 90!

Does anyone have similar experiences of this?

Yeah 1 or 2 scrambles per year is more than enough for me. Although it is nice to not have to be so careful with every shot and just have some fun out there.

lol, there is no way to win those things. I play maybe one or two a year, always for a charity. In a week, I'll play in one that had the winning group come in at 23 under last year and won $800; but they donated the entire amount back to the charity.

I saw a group also come in at 22-23 under. We got thumped at 14 under. Have fun and leave the expectations at accomplishing that only.

i think scrambles are good craic because you play with your friends and you would normally get quite a good score so it feels good

The best part about scrambles is letting your team get a ball in play off the tee then you get to be MANLY on your drive lol..
