I'm really looking for something that is long off of the tee but gives you a nice amount of spin around the green.

Personally I like the e6+ for a winter ball b/c its long and b/c the geens in the winter are soft and you really don't need lots of spin, cuz they don't spin well. During the good weather I like the 330s, but I've found any tour quality ball works good to very good around the greens. It just depends on the feel you want or are looking for.

If the Bridgestone Ball Fit thing is around I'd recommen doing it. I thought it was very informative. For reference my ss is 105-109 mph.

I found a Bridgestone Tour B330-S the other day and it has loadsa spin. How ever, i am about the buy a few of the slightly less spiny B330-rx as they have less driver spin.

That's kind of the thing I'm looking for, something that doesn't have a lot of driver spin. Everyone now than I'll really slice the ball (once every 8 or 9 holes) and I would really like to minimize how far bad I lose the ball on those shots.

Well friday I'm going to buy some Top Flite Gamers and try them out and see how I like them.

In my Tourino Stand Bag:
Driver: S9-1 F 9.5º Aldila DVS-HL S Flex Shaft
5 - Wood: 1200 Gear Perfect (being upgraded next year)
Irons: R7 Irons 4-PW
Balls: GamersWedge: 60.08º Vokey Spin Milled Wedge - Oil Can

I've played the Gamers, and one of the things I noticed was that my long shots seemed to produce an exaggerated amount of sidespin.

I'll second the Srixon AD333 recommendation earlier. You owe it to yourself to at least give these a try.

I played with the Gamers today, and loved them. Shot a 69 (-3) today on a 69.2/117 course, thanks for suggesting that ball. It's the ball I'm going to continue to use. Only downside, the cover is soooo WEAK. It scuffs so easily.

Gamers are awesome. At $19 per dozen they are a great value.

I'm down to a 10 handicap. At this rate, I'll get to scratch at 90 years old!

Played my first round last night with the E6+'s and I'm sold. I could see that someone looking for alot of spin around the green might not like these. However they play with a soft feel and go looong and straight. I hit one drive that normally would have ended up in the next fairway over, and instead it only ended up in the first cut of the fairway I was on. It was funny, cuz I hit it and hung my head expecting it to be way off line, then I stood there watching in amazement as it straightened out and bounced on the fairway and rolled into the first cut of the rough. I'll be playing these until I can build a more consistent swing.

+1 for the Bridgestone e6+

I've played most if not all of the widely available balls on the market, and for my game, the e6+ is by far the best.

That's my problem with the gamers. It doesn't take many wedge shots to ruin the ball. I've also played B330-rx's and found they marked easily......so I've gone back to my top flight z-balatas. Not long, but a soft feel and a tough cover. I can get 18 holes out of one, rather than four or five. I don't feel the (marginal) loss of distance hurts me too badly, as I'm still normally about a club longer than our average member.

In the winter I'll use a longer, harder, ball.

I've been promoting the Top Flite Gamer and the Top Flite Freak golf balls for a long time now. Don't get me wrong, they are great balls. But, if you want the best ball EVER MADE, then it has to be the Srixon Z-URC. Hands down. Try it yourself. It blows every other ball away.

Distance and spin for less than $30=Top Flite Gamer, Callaway HX Hot Bite, or Taylormade TP Black. The Taylormade cover is a little bit more durable than the other two, but all are solid performers. I'm also a fan of the Top Flite D2 Feel, I find it's roughly equivalent in performance to the Bridgestone E7+ at about half the price.

I'm really looking for something that is long off of the tee but gives you a nice amount of spin around the green.

If you want something with a lot of spin around the green, then you need a URETHANE cover (which unfortunatly is more expensive than anything else.) I forget the numbers I saw recently, but a urethane cover produces something like 4x the spin off a wedge that a surylan cover does (hence the reason all top end balls use a urethane cover.)

If spin is a requirement than urethane is your first must have. As far as distance, wasn't it Golf Digest that recently did a ball comparison (using a 90 mph swing speed), and it turned out that all the balls they tested were within a 9 yard range (TM black at the top, Pro V1 at the bottom). A number of "distance" balls (like the Freak) were right in the middle of the pack. In other words, that isn't that much distance difference between balls. At most expect to pick up 10 yards (only a 5% gain on a 200 yard drive.)
