Yes, up to my knees in mud. It was like freakin' quicksand, every time I moved to get out, I went in deeper. Needless to say, my dad didn't play very well for the rest of the round. He said that from across the fairway, it looked like I was wearing boots.

I thought I was going to lose a shoe by trying to step out of that crap.

I found some mud on the second hole once. First time I played the course. I didn't want to waste a shot taking a drop, so I plunged at it. Got the ball out well, but I was sprayed with dirt and mud. It was a warm day, so I took off the sweater I was wearing.

You win. That's as bad as I've ever seen. And yes, I'm surprised you didn't loose your shoes.

That ol blue mud will get you. Years ago when I was in the Air Force a buddy and I were golfing the base course and the same thing happened to him. Funny thing was the base comander was behind us and I had to wave him through. He come's by as I'm helping my freind out of the mud and just shakes his head. Funny now but not at the time.

Well, It was my Nike One Tour - A $3 ball, a ProV1, an HX Tour, and my dad's ball since he drove into the same spot on the creek.

I was originally standing on a safe spot. As I was climbing up the bank, I slipped and slid right into the bog. Now I know how those people felt in quicksand in those '80's movies. It was a par 3. I took the drop, pitched on within 6ft from 50 yards, and then putted in to save bogey. Not bad considering. My dad was laughing his ass off saying he couldn't look at me. He wound up with a 6 on that hole. I was trying to beat him on the last hole, so I kept telling him that it wasn't funny, which of course made him laugh harder. We both parred(5) it.

I feel for you, I had a similar incident, I was playing in Palm Springs about 10 years ago on a course that was pretty new. Hit my ball on the bank of a pond, when I stepped on the bank to get it I sunk to my knee. Fortunately I was able to pull my foot out and keep my shoe on.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
