Iv been playing golf for about 2 years now. Im playing with Adams A3 irons. Not the OS version. Im dying to get a new set of irons for something new. If it were based on looks alone, Id go with the Titleist Z Blend or Mizuno MP32. But Im afraid to go to a blade since Im still not very good.

Im consistently in the 90s, and the last 2 times out I shot 91 and 91. Im starting to get my swing down, but even I know Im still not where I want to be. My goal is to be in 80s by the end of the year. Im so close.

But that isnt changing the fact that I want new irons. If you were new to golf again and gonna get any irons on the market, what would you get?

Callaway X-22 is what I would get.

i am currently looking for new irons (i've been playing my ping eye2s for 16 years now..ha) and my leading candidate are the mizuno mp32s.

Well, "I want something new" isn't the best reason to get new irons unless something is wrong with yours. So double-check that you're spending good money for a good reason.

But there is a good reason: you're playing what I believe to be GI irons, and you clearly want to improve. So, getting a set that is for better players is a very good reason to move.

Neither is something like 80% of the PGA Tour. If a significant portion of these guys aren't good enough for blades, you shouldn't feel obligated to play them.

(That's not a criticism of amateurs who play blades: having hit them a few times, I fully understand why people who don't play for money love them. And you clearly understand beauty of clubs!)

Darn right you're close. I look at what I had on my scorecards before my first 87, and I think it was something like 91-91-90-92-91. You're on your way, and getting your swing down is the way to go. But the A3 won't give you the full amount of feedback that you need.

Forget new to golf again. You aren't new to golf again. Short of hanging up the clubs for a few years, you aren't going to be new to golf again for a while. And that's a good thing!

You have a reasonably repeatable swing and the game to play very close to bogey golf, and are getting to the point where you're going to start making more pars than doubles. My suggestion: you mention your swing and your irons, and are clearly thinking of something between your current set (I believe the A3-not-OS is game improvement) and blades, inclusive. There are players' cavities, such as Mizuno MP-52, Ping i15, and Titleist AP2. These are cavity back, and are accordingly forgiving, but allow you a lot more feedback on bad shots (great for working on your swing) without making every bad shot a complete duff. This being the end of summer, there are going to be a good number of demo days for these. Talk to your local pro shop and/or golf shop and see if a representative is coming to demonstrate the clubs. Or check their websites. Try out the Players' Irons (or, as I call them, "swing improvement clubs") and see which ones you like.

Im really starting to dig the Mizuno for some reason. What other ones are on same line as the MP52? Would the MP60 Cut Muscle be along those lines?

If you really want to lower your score, don't look at anything Mizuno or Titleist.

Look at Adams Idea Tech A4 Hybrid Irons.

Look closely at the forgiving clubs by Ping, Calloway, Nickent, Adams, and King Cobra. There is a consistent look that the cast, deep cavity back, forgiving clubs have. And it is not what the Mizuno clubs look like.

Nike Slingshot Irons. Hands down the best irons for any golfer over a 10 handicap. They are the most forgiving irons I have ever hit. I think you should try them out.

MP-52, -57, -60, -62 are similar lines. I think the 60 is the daddy of the -57, which is the daddy of the -62 and -52. The MP-60 is the oldest of the four.

This confuses me: while I would understand suggesting against players' irons, I don't understand discounting the MX series (Mizuno) or the AP1 (Titleist).

These are indeed pretty. And they're sufficiently forgiving, while still giving you feedback. Go and demo a set if you get a chance! Mizuno's website has a list of demo days, searchable by state.

Do NOT be afraid of blades! Not anymore. Mizuno has come up with a set of blades that even I can hit - the MP-52s. They are great irons, and I like them even more than the irons I traded int: the Mizuno MX-25s, which are supposed to be for 'less-skilled' players. The MP-52s are a different animal, and exactly as advertised: good players clubs, and easy to hit - believe it or not!!
Hell, go hit one, and you'll see for yourself. The set, in fact is progressive in the senese that while the 8-iron on up to the wedge are solid blades with some muscleback-type cutouts(that work wonderfully to put the center of gravity, etc. where you can hit them), the 7-irons down to the 3 have clever 'cutouts' that place the weight even further back to make the longer irons easy-to-hit!
You have to try them to believe it - trust me!
