I was about to order my Cleveland L-wedge 60* and it asked me what bounce I wanted and a GIANT question mark popped up over my head. So what do I want and why lol... Thanks in advance for answer my question.

I have a high bounce and a low bounce - just turned out that way during equipment changes. High bounce is better from fairway on full shots, and from bunkers. Low bounce really stands out from green side rough or for 20 yard chips. Low bounce i find is easier to cut thru rough, that's why its my club of choice around the green. My low bounce wedge is spin milled, and 1.5* of bounce so it's very low for even a low bounce wedge.

Pretty sure bounce works in the complete opposite way you described it. Higer the bounce the better it is out of deep sanded bunkers and deep rough, and wet conditions....Lower the bounce is better off tight lies and hard, dry fairways...

I think you need to read what he wrote again.

He said he uses high bounce from bunkers and full shots. That's fine. And low bounce for chip shots from tight fairways and from rough (where bounce really doesn't come into play very often). Depends on how the ball usually sits in the rough you play, among other things.

I know that I use my relatively low bounce lob wedge out of the wet sand, over my moderately high bounce sand wedge. It digs in a little better, and is less prone to skipping and blading the ball long. At least it is for me.

what bounce is your other wedge(s)? if you just have one wedge with 1.5* of bounce then I would like at a higher bounce lob wedge so you could use it from the sand etc.

Of course I like to open my 52* wedge with moderate bounce for all sorts of shots - by opening it up I can of course increase bounce and loft

I bought my X-14 sw like 4 years ago and have no clue what bounce it is. I have been looking and I guess until I further research it I will go with a standard bounce for now. I have been golfing since middle school and I am finally getting to the point were I want to eat, sleep, and live golf. This week I signed up on the forum and it has been so awesome! I am glad I found the site and I really appreciate all the input.

Well... he through me off when he said it was easier to cut through rough with low bounce...and he talked about hitting off the fairway with the higher bounce wedge.

How good are you from the bunkers and how are the conditions when you play? I play on pretty moist soil, so my SW has 14* and my LW 12* of loft. It also depends how well you are out of the sand. Can't you try some?

I went with a low bouce lw. I figured I'd be using it on fairway approaches and greenside chips. Its been a godsend and quickly becoming my favorite club. I go to my trusty SW if I need to dig a bit, its medium bounce so I figured I could use it to balance out the LW.

I personally like low bounce for a 60. Usually, the 60 comes out on harder ground days so less bounce works better for the strike and the extra loft helps for a softer landing. You gotta figure out what you want a 60 for.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
