So, let me try to paint you a picture of my day today...

I go to a course out in PA, mediocre course and layout at best, not too challenging, really felt I could go low. I am +4 thru 4 holes, having a pretty rough start. I go to the 5th hole and I have a 4 foot putt for par. I miss it. Violent Lip Out. I got pretty pissed off, but relaxed by the time I got onto the next tee.

Trying to hit a conservative, safe tee shot on a dog leg right, and not knowing the course having played it twice, both times coming two years ago when I was a 25 or 30 handicap, I hit my driver straight. I had no idea I could run it through the fairway, into the trees staright ahead. I figured it was at least 280 to the trees, and I hit it about 250 at best off the tee.

So, I chip out, and my pitch out catches a tree limb. Very frustrated at this point, basically getting unlucky for what I thought my last few shots were actually quite decent. So I knock a 7 iron down the fairway for my third shot on a 510 yard par 5.

For my 4th shot, I am playing it from exactly 150 yards. No wind. I know that is my 7 iron. I hit it right at the pin. For some reason, I thought it may come up slightly short, it just didn't seem like it was going to get up. But, boy, was I mistaken.

For about 3 minutes I'm looking for my ball short, long, etc. I saw the ball mark about 10 feet in front of the flag stick. I knew it couldn't have gone over the green by much, but figuring this is the kind of day I am having, I go back and grab my wedge and putter. As I am walking, about to go to the back of the green, I figured I might as well do the good 'ole "Hey lets look if my ball went into the cup..."

Surely enough, it did. I just holed out a 7 iron from 150 yards. By far the furthest shot I have ever holed out. Previous to that it was about a 40 yard chip.

It was about the only good thing of my round. I missed just about every putt from there on out, and struggled the rest of the day consistently...but my day was fine and I didn't care any longer about my score after that. I had just hit a great golf shot, and it finally paid off.

Nice shot, I've never holed out from that far. But I have hit the pin a numerous amount of times from that distance. It's a great feeling and a frustrating feeling at the same time, if it wouldn't have hit the pin, the spin would've kicked in and I would be 3-4 inches from the hole, but no, since I hit the pin, I'm a good 10-15ft away.

Great shot!

Sound exactly like a story I have. I was playing a country club course with a buddy who works there and a few other friends. I was making a complete mess of a par 4, put it in the water off the tee, then dropped and hit a pretty chunky shot into the fairway. Told the guys (who put there shots on in regulation) to head up and I'd "eventually" make it up there. Holed out from about 140 to save par, while they were standing on the side of the green to watch it one-hop into the hole.

Haha, very nice. That's a pretty long hole out! I've only holed out once from the fairway, from 88 yards away, and same scenario as you, I didn't see it go in. Once I got onto the green, there was only one ball, and then when me and my friend checked the hole, there was my ball :)

84, lol. My putting was bad all day. No one in my foursome made ANYTHING though...so I didn't feel too bad. I only 3 putted once, but I just never made any putts from the 5-15 feet range. I usually get a few of those per 18 holes.
