I'm a male but at 5 4" I prefer to use women's clubs. Men's cut down clubs are too stiff for me due to my slower swing. Anyway, this past May I bought a complete set of clubs called Maxfli Fire from Dicks. I believe it was $299 on sale at the time. It included a driver, 3w, 5w, 4H, 5H and 6 through sand wedge. I like them alot. Granted I am not a great golfer. Shoot about 88-90 on a good day and they suit me well.
I think Maxfli was bought out by Dicks/Slazenger. So they rebaged the same set under the Slazenger name and even took about $30-40 off the set. You can buy them at Golf Galaxy.

This isnt the exact set but very similar even includes a pretty pink bag, lol for $249

It's okay buddy - as long as you're not gaming that Wilson Hope setup (including nuclear pink golf bag).

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

Id go with a set of Mizuno Soras. They are a quality set of clubs which are purpose-built for women and are priced very affordably.

As suggested, I would start her out with a cheap "complete set" to make sure that she is actually going to commit to the game. From then on, upgrade/add piece by piece as the need comes up.

My GF used to play her brother's clubs. Once we realized she was going to commit to the game and that she needed something that suits her swing more, I got her an Adams XTD 12.5* driver with a ladies shaft to start things off (Of her brother's clubs, driver was the hardest for her to hit since his irons were graphite). Later we got a Burner 15* 3w, X-18 irons 4-SW, all in ladies graphite. She plays a mens Odyssey putter. Small steps, and keep things interesting.

Burner 15* and 18*

Nice.......Luckily the set of Maxfli's I have are cobalt gray with yellow writing. The men's set is identical except they are orange instead of yellow. So you never know it's a female set. lol Believe me I took that into consideration.

Oh and I love beating my co-worker who just dropped mega bucks on his forged set of Mizuno's. I'll take what works best for me.

I would suggest Big Berthas, they are very forgiving and last a long time.

And compared to the BB topline, her ass will look smaller!!!

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

My thread about clubs to get my wife got merged to the existing one here by a moderator so I thought I would reply to it anyway...

Thanks for all the input guys/gals. I got Callaway 460cc womens driver, 3W, 5W, Womens Big Bertha irons in 4I-SW (4-7 i-brids and 8-SW irons), and a navy/black Callaway cart bag. This should get her started in the right direction and after a few lessons we will get the set custom fit to her. It is my thought that she will value the matched set and perhaps it will encourage her a bit. I hit all Callaway, big tour bag, etc.. and if nothing else this set will convey that I take her playing as serious as I do my own game. Heck, her clubs actually cost more than mine. Ha ha... Anyway, thanks for the insights.

Good job! Always spending more on the wife is the key to happiness.

I was a little surprised your topic got merged - I hope this means all the "which new irons for a high handicap" threads will be merged!
