Wow I'm on the 9th tee box and these hacks have been in front of me all day. Now I'm not that good, I'm 44 coming into this hole but there are 2 of them each playing 2 balls as I wait for 15 min at each teebox. Then they hit a bad shot and drop another to hit?!?! I'm furious, has this happenef to anyone lately. Sorry for typos I'm on my blackberry typing with a glove

I gotta say the multi-ball thing would really chap my ass. Its one thing to play awful, but another to play awful twice per hole...

Call the clubhouse and tell the ranger what is going on. If you do it now at least the back 9 might be a little faster. Its kind of sad when you have enough time to post a thread while you're golfing...LOL!

happened to me last weekend. 2 of the 4 would swing and miss 5 + times for each ball then when they would actually hit it, the ball would go nowhere. Needless to say I am glad we got rained out right after 9 holes as it took us almost 3 to complete them!

What course in Raleigh? I'll call my father-in-law and ask if he's holding people up again. :)

I've certainly had it happen but it's been a while. In fact this season has been pretty good pace wise. Either way your experience is unacceptable. Did you let the ranger know?

Ask to play through. Or jump ahead of them a hole or two, then try to go back & play the holes you missed if the course isn't too busy.

Or, yell at them & tell them that they are playing too slow.

I would insist on playing through. You'll have to move out though and it always helps when you insist on playing through if you really stripe one down the fairway. Even if you don't though just make it a point to play fast and leave them way behind.

It was at keith hills in lillington, nc. I'm a member there and was just trying to play a few so I was walking. Thank God they left after nine and I shot 45 on the back not having to wait for people it only took me an hour and 15 min I think. I'm not sure how I survived the front but I guess I play better when its just me on the course and it cooled down which helped a ton as well. I might not be the best player but I don't play multiple balls ESPECIALLY with a guy waiting 10 min for me to move up every hole. I was gonna ask them to let me go through on the back but luckily it wasn't a problem

Not to belabor the point but why would you not ask them to play through after the first time you had to wait on them more than 5-10 minutes?

They were probably waiting for you to say something and since you didn't they figured it was all right with you if they continued playing multiple balls and slow.

They were always 150 yds up and I was walking, they were carting, it was hot out. Best option wouldve been to hit into them when they were in the woods scavenging for one of their 6 balls they were playing and then I'd be on the green before they even got out of the woods. Then of course they'd realize i jumped ahead when they saw me 4-putting ahead of them.

I played that course.....must have been 12 years ago. Nice track. From what I remember you had some serious walking to do that round.

Glad they moved on. I wouldn't have hesitated to call the pro shop and report them....playing multiple balls and not waving you through.....argh.

Playing multiple balls or hitting into the woods and dropping a new one? I would not have accepted to get stuck behind someone hacking away and playing two balls at once.

Flag them down, catch them at the tee box, walk up to them when you're waiting for them to clear the green. There are times when being assertive pays off. That doesn't mean hitting up to them or being a jerk it just means you walk up to them, introduce yourself, and politely but firmly ask to play through. If you were waiting 10-15 minutes sometimes before you could hit that's plenty of time to walk up to them and ask to play through. If they refuse then obviously a call to the clubhouse is in order.

I was playing last weekend and had similar dealings with the group in front of me. They had 5 horrible players, there were 3 of us, me being the worst in the group. They had one person hitting from the blue tees, one hitting from the seniors, one from the ladies, and 2 from the whites. When we made the turn, we were hoping they stopped at the clubhouse, but they didn't. So we just skipped 10, and came back to it at the end to get past them.

Are you a PGM major at NC State? I'm located about 40min south of raleigh now but I am looking for a place to live next year thats close to both a golf course and wakemed or rex healthcare since I'll be working there.

The NC State course I hear is pretty new, will definitely have to hit that one up one day!

40 minutes south of Raleigh? That should put you fairly close to Fort Bragg, doesn't it? We play on Fort Bragg once a week, this week in the Commanding General's golf scramble. Ryder Golf Course on Fort Bragg is a decent course, and cheap, (under $30 with cart) you should check it out. The other course on Bragg, Stryker, is decent, but they're redoing the greens right now, so it's all temporary greens, so we haven't played there since they started.

    • that is an excellent approach. I did that with my last set. I made a few 7 irons from different heads and shafts. Getting a feel for how they play on the course is the right idea. Let us know how it goes.
    • I’m glad the USGA booted some of the hecklers. It’s getting out of hand. I wish the networks wouldn’t mic the crowd to give those idiots a platform.
    • New member here, and I have decided to upgrade my clubs. I have been playing for a long time but these last 10 years I have had to put four kids through college. So I've played a few rounds a year and some years have not played at all. I am currently playing Titleist 716 AP2's with Rifle 6.5 steel shafts and Winn grips. I used to hit my 7 iron around 165 yds until just 5 years ago. I turned 62 this year and noticed I can barely get my 7 iron to 145 yds. I went for a fitting to try out some new player distance irons. I don't think I need game improvement irons because I'm pretty straight and rarely try to work a ball (if I'm working a ball, then I most definetely did something wrong to get there). I tried a bunch of irons (Callaway, Mizuno, PXG, Taylormade, Srixon, Ping, and Titleist) and I kept coming back to the Ping and Titleist. They just felt right and really looked good when lining up a shot. The Ping, by far, went the longest of all the irons. The Titleist was a close second in distance. Both felt buttery smooth through impact. I was wondering if anyone else has any experience with these irons. I was getting 160 yds with a nice smooth swing (81 mph swing speed). I know I'm asking a lot of my clubs but my last fitting was 27 years ago and I ended up with some Cleveland TA3's or TA2's forged irons with Dynamic Gold S300 (swing speed 87 mph). I really love the feel of my AP2's and the place I'm going to purchase from is going to make a 7 iron in both Ping and Titleist for me to test on real grass. I'm pretty certain it's going to be either one. They're both identical in price for a set of 5-PW. I'm going to forego a 4 iron and get another 4 hybrid to go along with my 3 hybrid. Any and all replies are welcome.
    • Day 47, June 22.  After work today, I spent 20 minutes in my indoor practice room, hitting about as many balls.  Slow, as slow as I could, 6-iron swings, same priority piece as the past month.
    • Day 291 6-22 full, faster swings, focusing on low point, missing towel. Recorded some face on and dtl. Practicing full speed changes is something I wasn't doing enough.
