11.8 miles to my new home course. Plan 30 minutes for average travel time.

1.2 miles, or 3 minutes, to the local Par 3 course at which I'm also a member. Perfect for the quick lunch escapes to practice the short game, or to go with my Sons for a little fun.

Distance makes a big difference to me. I really like GL and their membership package but the travel time would be too much for me. I like being able to play a quick 9 holes if the opportunity presents itself or drop by the course early in the morning or after work to putt/chip or hit some balls on the range.

I am about 35 minutes from my course. There was one closer but I had been a member there before and there were too many a**holes. All of my playing partners went to this course as well, so I followed. If my house sells, then I will change clubs (assuming I get a house in the area I want) and will join the country club that is about 10 minutes from work and the subdivision. There really aren't many quality courses around my house.

I'm about 15 miles and 30 minutes from my course. I joined the Harmon Club (training facility) after I sold my boat in May. It has a nice 9 hole course, with a great driving range, as well as heated bays for cold weather, 2 different putting greens, sand trap area, as well as a nice chipping/pitch shot area. They also have some good PGA pros to take lessons from, as well as a club fitting set up. I also use their gym, and visit the restaurant and bar as well. I really enjoy it.

Yup....I hate to leave there...but the logistics of time/travel distance/etc just come into play.

I'm thinking about Bartram Trail or Jones Creek again....leaning more towards Bartram trail. I really love their greens when the speed is up.

Only a 5 minute for me. First and only course I played close by when I moved house. Loved it there and then and as it had everything I wanted I saw no reason to try elsewhere.

I actually just cancelled my membership yesterday because I can't get out there and play enough. It takes so long to get there that I can't play in the evenings any more. i talked with the manager and he said he completely understands. I thought it was cool that he let me out of it.

Which is closer to you? JC has always had problems with ownership and I don't think you'll have to problem at BT. Neither is requiring an initiation fee (JC is currently waiving theirs and BT doesn't have one). At $110 a month the BT deal is pretty good. That's what it is at FH and with them you have to pony up $500 as initiation. If I lived closer to BT that would probably be where I'd join.

My home par 72 course is about 20 miles away, my home executive (par 60) course is about 10 miles away, but there are many other courses that I play in a range of about 25 miles. Torrey Pines is about 15 miles away but only about 2 miles from work. The course in my development is about 1 mile away but absurdly expensive; I play there very rarely and by invitation only.

1.5 miles to the club I'm a member of. 27 miles to the course I play second most, but it's mostly interstate and traffic isn't much of a problem.

Been a member this past year at my home course and really loved it. The

I have five courses within 15 minutes driving time. Life is good.

Walk out the back door to the 11th teebox. To get to the clubhouse to start at one is about a quarter of a mile.

I have actually thought about buying a house on the golf course

JC is 3 miles or so.

BT is 11 miles. I went from home up Belair to Columbia. I improved this on the way home, Columbia to Hereford Farm Rd to Gibbs Rd to Hardy McManus. I understand there's another loop through the William Few Prkwy that is good for when rush hour or school busses are running. I'll experiment. I played BT yesterday. None of us scored well. I'm gonna blame my poor scoring on the night and morning that preceeded the round. Our dog was really sick last night and I had to make a run to the vet. I just barely got there in time to make the tee time. No warm up...no putting....knee brace and shoes on at the first tee and let it fly. The conditions were nice out there and the greens look to be improving. The bent grass greens are much more fragile than local berumuda variations are, though. Speed was really nice and they were fairly smooth. The layout there is certainly a challange. Yesterday was my 3rd time playing there. Bogeys on number 9 and 10 which I believe are the hardest hcp holes. Some of the shorter holes ate my lunch, though. I like how you can hit 3 wood from many of the tees and play well. We played the blue tees and didn't feel like we had to force driver. One cool thing was that one of the guys had the new golflogix app for his iphone. It was dead nuts on. I have to upgrade my old phone soon. The range is nice, warm up green is really nice, too. You can get ready while monitoring the first tee box. I really liked the more remote practice green behind the clubhouse for bunker practice and chipping / putting. I've heard many golfers state that the pro there is really great to get lessons from. That is definitely something I'm considering. I think this may become my new home course when my current GL membership expires in Oct. It is certainly a busy course. I'm not sure how far in advance members can make tee times...but I can see where this would be needed. They seem to have an active junior golf program. You could see the green tees well forward on many holes. My son may love these. I'll probably just do an individual membership for starters and see how it goes. He's doing scouts, soccer and basketball now....schedule will open up for him in the spring. It's virtually impossible for me to beat the bagain I had at GL....but the time factor and drive was encumbering. BT is an interesting layout that I don't think would ever become boring. Just the 10th hole alone is a thrill. That is a very tricky green to approach. It's not going to be a fun course to walk on solo practice rounds...but hey, nothing wrong with burning more calories. I'll just have to replace the softspikes more often. I had a lot of fun playing FH not too long ago, as well. The distance to here is just to far for me. No way to "sneak" out there for a quick nine.
