Has everyone given up for Lent? Or Eid. Or whatever.

I got some of this as a gift the other day and it's been going down pretty easy ...

Yep, definitely an acquired taste, not something I'd use to introduce someone to scotch but that's definitely where my tastes run when it comes to whisky. Give me the Taliskers, Laphroigs and Bowmores. Maybe it's because I gave up smoking and needed to fill the void?

Yep, starter kit.

I like my scotch like I like my women, 18 years old and all mixed up with coke. :w00t:

Just kidding, I would never mix coke with any scotch, let alone good scotch.

It's whisk y by the way, whisk ey is from anywhere but Scotland, although that distinction may be less observed than it was in the past.

After reading a couple of these threads lately, BC and Long Game, I need a drink!

For a starter kit, I prefer Aberlour

Ablerlour 10 is typically inexpensive and good.

I drank Abunad'h when my ex and I would drink together -- still didn't save the marriage. :surrender:

Thank goodness in many ways.

Aberlour's not bad at all.

Just to be clear, nasty, smokey, peaty is my preference but I also really enjoy a lot of fine Irish Whiskeys too and they tend to be much lighter and floral by comparison, more of a morning whiskey so to speak.

And there's nothing wrong with Speyside either even if you usually like Islay. Big tits, small tits etc. -- who cares as long as they're well presented?

Alas.  A Blues Brothers album and bottle of Jim Beam rendered me incapable of drinking whisky, scotch, bourbon, rye for the rest of my life.  So being a beach kind of guy, rum naturally became my favorite.  Cruzan is my favorite brand.  Their Black strap is excellent to sip.  Pusser's, Mount Gay and Gosling are great too.

Lately I've been really getting into rum cocktails. Usually just a double shot of rum with lots of lime juice and some ginger ale or 7 up. It's getting a little too cold for the gin & tonics.
