alright. when im at the range, i boom my drives, usually all of them being straight, do the same with my woods, and make perfect shots with my irons... I go to the course, slice my drives and woods. and cant hit or chunk my irons... any help as to why... and also, most of my divots with my irons face right which i know means im coming inside out. is this okay for them going to the right or should i try to straighten them out.

if thier pointing right it sounds like your coming from the inside with a open face.which means it is square with you swing line and its a push.sounds like you need to work on getting the face back to square at impact.

any suggestions as to how

take slower swings with 7 iron practicing closing the face on downswing the gradually work your way into a full swing.while hitting balls so you know your not closing to much or not closing enough.

you cant take the range to the course.so try to bring the course to the range.say if you know the course well visualize yourself on first tee then hit a drive if its good and say you think you may have a 7 iron in hit your 7.and keep doing this,it has helped me.

Exactly what ping12 said. It is very difficult to bring the range to the course. It happens to everyone my friend.

Sounds like your not trusting the yardage you hit your clubs.E.G say your 150 out and your hitting your 8 iron in,if you hit your 8 iron 150yrds with your normal tempo swing then hit it with it,don't try and put a little more in it.You have to learn to hit all your clubs with the same tempo and trust it,including your driver. If you want to give one a little more go up one or two clubs and 3 quarter swing with the same tempo but don't be forceing shots as it throws everything out.Hope this makes sense.

hmmm good tip. ill definatly work on that. cause your right, on the course if i see the shot could need more umf or i wanna hit my tee shot far or just any shot far i try to hit it hard in which like you said could throw off tempo and many other things.. as where on the range your just hitting the pull to put it out there and in turn makes for a nice clean shot... now just to get my brain wrapped around the concept.

Quick question...Do you hit off mats at you range or grass? If mats, then there is your problem. If grass, then it is mostly probably some kind of psychological/visual issue. You need to practice more out on the course, or on grass on a range. Especially practice proper set up and alignment every time you address the ball. Another thing is this: Don't focus on hitting the ball as much as swinging towards your target. Always focus on swinging towards the target; the ball just happens to be in your way. That may help a lot.

You got to have a pre shot routine on the range.
Stand behind, look at the line, check grip , address,
fire away.
The pre shot routine helps with the yips during pressure
ie: teeing off first hole, etc. You're pretty good, maybe
close that face a tad. Hope it helps

    • Day 33 (13 Dec 25) - Worked on weight shift and resetting the left heel during downswing (after listening to a discussion on Golf School this morning on PGA Tour Radio).  It centered on how Jack Nicklaus lifted his lead heel and how long driver champs do as well.  Taking cues from that discussion, worked an exaggerated feel of the left heel working doing some swing drill in the backyard using the 7i.  Wrapped up the session by hitting a few low bump and run shots in the backyard - keeping the process slow and exaggerated.
    • Day 123 12-13 Rotation and getting to lead side work. Recorded face on. Hit a few foam balls but did plenty of rehearsals today.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
