played today in 32 degree weather. i never remember how much i like playing in this weather until i do it again.

You lost about 20-30 yards on your driver. its hard to find the ball with all of the leaves on the ground and the greens are rock hard.

still the most fun i have had in a long time.

Absolutely love it, maybe cause it is a change from the hot as balls weather down here. Going to visit family in Wayzata at the end of October excited to play Interlachen and Bearpath for the 2 weeks I am there, hopefully it stays nice a cool.

The only validating thing about playing when it is cool is you have the place to yourself. Otherwise, forget it.

Murderous week for us down here also, felt like July all over again. Wish it was in the 40s-60s for at least a month or 2.

Love having the course to myself, or at least only being out there with only hardcore golfers. I have learned way more from blustery Tuesday pairings than I have from summer chucklehead pairings.

The biggest pain in the ass is the leaves. I was reminded a little bit of it here in the FL panhandle on Thursday, but I cut my golf teeth in Northern VA in October/November. If you hit it out of the FW you probably won't find it in all the leaves. Hit it in the FW and you have a 70/30 shot at finding it until you get really good at playing the shell game with the leaves.

Ben Hogan is my swing coach.

Negative. If it's not 50 or above I'm staying inside.

I am 100% with you on that it needs to be 50* or warmer for me to actually enjoy it! I guess it's part of getting old.

When I was younger that wasn't the case so much. I grew up in Michigan and my brother and I would usually be the first on our home course for the year in early March. The craziest weather I ever played in was during my senior year of highschool golf. I think it was about the last week of October and was a unseasonably cold day. We were playing in the Regional Finals to qualify for the State Championship. I was in the last group and it was under 40* when we teed off and getting colder. We had three holes to play when it started snowing and by the time we reached the 18th green it was a near white-out condition, snowing like crazy,,,lol! Luckily we had nice weather the following week for the State Championship, mid-50's and sunny!

I played yesterday - it was 42˚ when I started at 3:30 and 39˚ when I finished 18. When I pulled into the parking lot one of the guys working said to me -
"You're not playing in this $/// are you?"
I laughed as I pulled on my beanie - already in two layers head to toe, plus windbreaker.
"Of course I am!"
"You're the only one all day" He said.
"Pussies..."

I had the course to myself. Besides playing a great round of golf, I traversed into the deep rough on occasion and filled by bag with 2007-2009 ProV1s.

Love the cold.

I played this morning here in Arkansas, and it was in the high 40's/low 50's with overcast skies and a good 1-2 club breeze most of the time. I would take these conditions any day over the heat we get in the summer (humid and 100+ degrees). You lose distance on all your shots, but once you factor that in it really is quite nice to play in that type of weather.

My only problem is that for whatever reason I can't swing with long sleeves on. I grew up playing ice hockey, so the cold doesn't get to me all that much (15-20 degrees in wet equipment at 5 in the morning will do that for you). It still can get you though if the wind picks up and starts to give you the chills.

When I lived in the Midwest we played as long as we could. Some mornings here will be 30's and 40's as we get into Dec, Jan and Feb. I wear Under Armore under a Gortex Golf Top and regular cotton slacks. What else can you suggest for these moderate temperatures? Gloves and a Stocking cap? Any brand suggestions.

I can play when the weather is any two of these three----cold, rain, and windy. Put them all together, like yesterday in a tournament that played in, and I want to go home and do something indoors. The temperature was 47 degrees, with a light rain, and the wind blowing a 25 mph+. Today, my lower back is sore, and that never happens but swinging in that cold for 6 hours did it to me!

I can't wait to get a round in under the rain. Rain expected on Tuesday, I might head out. :)

And I too can't swing with sleeves on. I am going to do my best though. Sometimes when it's cold I'll wear thermals under a shirt and a vest. We will see.

I am the same. Wet grips are maddening and sloshing around a wet course can really wear you down.

When it comes to cold....I don't mind wearing an underarmor type shirt beneath a golf polo, but I'm not fond of playing in a jacket. I've been wearing a knee brace for the last several months when I play....it is also much easier to wear with shorts....so I'll be wearing these unless it gets really cold around here.
