Looking at the thread about 'what makes for a consistent ballstriker', I got to wondering if there isn't a general ability for repeated coordinated motion. I wonder if there is a correlation between good handwriting and good ballstriking.

I've made this poll - if you don't mind, vote!

I honestly couldn't tell ya Fat. I haven't written anything more than a 2 or 3 line note in years. LOL I am an average ballstriker though. I'm guessing average handwriting also.

I went with above ave. ball striker/average writer. I would say I hit 50% of my shots the way I plan to (clean contact and desired flight) and I believe that to be above an honest average. I don't consider a well struck push/pull to be a correct strike on the ball but I think that some people do. And on the other side, I can read everything I write but sometimes other people get a bit confused.

People often complement me on my handwriting, can't say the same for my ball striking. Then again, I've been writing for a lot longer than I've been playing golf.

Average ballstriker. Really working on taking my approach game to the next level.

Above average handwriting. It might even be girly, it's that good.

I've been told I have a woman's handwriting - by people who mean this as a compliment. Other times, I've been told that my handwriting looks typed.

i work at a private course and i notice that most of the low handycappers like 5 and below are dentists, surgons, or artists of some sort. i thing it takes fine motor skills and attention to detail to become a good ball striker. all these jobs require the abitity to work in small places and have very good control of where your hands are at all times

Yeah well, it also takes a lot of free time and money to become good in this game when you havent picked it up in your very early stages, so that might have something to do with it.

LOL - people tell me my handwriting looks like a kid from kindergarten... but hey, i always get the clubface at the ball - never had problems doing that.

I learned to write the way in first class and NEVER changed it :) Actually i consider my hand/eye coordination pretty good in that matter, i dont need to set the club behind the ball - i can start my swing way behind the ball and still hit it just as good.

There isn't... I practice my golf swing. I go days between even writing anything down. Maybe even weeks, let alone practicing it.

Hit the wrong vote, heh. Apparently not the best reading comprehension.

Anyway, I get the 'You write like a girl' compliment with regard to my handwriting. Very precise writer both in English and in Russian (I enjoy the look of Cyrillic... my Russian writing by far surpasses my speaking/comprehension). Also an amateur artist. Play guitar.

Horrendously inconsistent ball striking. Only been playing a few months, though.

Might be a connection to putting, but I doubt it. Eye hand coordination is not really an issue for handwriting, the only possible connection might be what handwriting reveals about your personality.
