So, lately as the weather has been rainy and just crappy to play, I've been pounding balls at several ranges. Here in Bama, or my A/O, it cost ten cents per ball. I think thats a lil much as I've gotton spoiled, I guess, with the (former) rates at my home course. So, whats everyone think is a fair price for a bucket????

Sounds good...I got 2 30 ball buckets today for $6., and at 'my' course it's a flat $5. for 50....which always amounts to 43 -47 balls. Anyway, ya gotta practice and it seems lately that the price range has gotton higher.

Unlimited range balls ftw.

I usually use about 20 buckets a month. Normal price is $3.50 for 45 which is about 8 cents per ball but I couldnt do without unlimited. 20 buckets a month would be $70 a month but then again I probably wouldn't hit that many so I wouldnt get as much practice.

Thats ridiculous and also unbelievable. I guess if you can only hit range balls at nighttime you are limited heavily but $12 is steep.

Its $3 a bucket here in illinois, and you get about 35 balls in a bucket, I usually will hit 3 buckets in a practice session, so about $9 for a little over 100 balls or about 9 cents a ball.

thats what my range did, they bumped up all their bucket prices by like 2 or 3 dollars saying because they got new range balls, the price is now higher. Well yes they got new range balls, but in every bucket ill maybe get 5-10 of the new ones out of my 100-110 ball bucket. Well if im now paying the higher price for new range balls, i expect every single ball i hit to be a new one.

also in every bucket there are balls that are chopped up, so old they have no dimples, or have sides shaved off/or bent in.

Depends on the range here. On the low end it's about $0.11 per ball. High end it's $0.16. The higher end places have nicer heated ranges.

My range is a pretty decent place, lighted at night, clean mats, automatic ball dispensers, brand new balls, etc. The price went up $1/bucket when they installed the dispensers and bought new balls recently, so it is $10/100 balls now. However on Mondays, they have a buy 2 buckets get 1 bucket free deal.

They give you tokens for your balls as you get them from a machine (2 tokens = 1 full 100 ball bucket) and you can use the tokens any day of the week. Heck, sometimes I'll go in on a Monday just to buy tokens and use them later in the week. Comes out to $0.067 per ball. Not bad for a nice range with plenty of mats, multiple distance targets, pitching targets, etc. Also has an immaculate and large putting green and a pretty challenging, sloped chipping area. I love the place.

Oh weak. My range got "new balls" and they have kids in the ball shack sorting out the old ones and we get 100% new balls in our buckets.

    • Day 11, 1/11/26.  Today was putting, along about 6' of carpet, with coins on the ground to keep me cognizant of what I'm doing.  I think this is the at-home drill from LSW. (Ugh, missed two of the last four days -- 1/10 and 1/8)
    • Day 9: 2026.01.11 Hit some balls at the range, concentrating on weight distribution at address, got some on film.
    • Day 468 - 2026-01-11 Loooooong day. Did some work in the patio door (as a mirror) when I got home.
    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
