Hey everyone, just made this thread to see how many of you have been or would like to come to Aussie land and maybe share your funny stories or experiences with our country.

I've been to Sydney before, oddly enough it was by way of a 7 hour flight from Kuala Lumpur instead of a quick hop across the ditch.

I'll share one story that sticks out from my visit. We went to see NZ play Aussie at the SCG in the VB series as it was know at the time. NZ won and on the packed full train back to where we were staying some guy wouldn't let me sit next to him because I had a Black Caps hat on! Can't say you Aussies don't love your sport .

I'm actually planning to move to Melbourne next year to continue my University study. I'm hoping there are some cheap golf courses around though!

Went to Australia with my family twelve years ago. Australia has amazing people, culture, and land/water scapes. We started in Cairns, then Surfer's Paradise, Brisbane, and then Sydney. My dad and I watched the Australian cricket team play South Africa at the Sydney cricket grounds. Played a few rounds of golf there also---can see why Australians (much like Texans) learn to play well in windy conditions.

Went to Australia last year as part of a round the world trip with the wife.

Amusing story, eh? Went to Taronga Zoo in Sydney and they had an open area where the animals roam amongst the visitors. I was admiring a kangaroo and my wife turns round and notices an emu coming up close behind me. I freeze as I don't want it to lash out with the frikkin' huge claw things and it just compounded the situation. The claws were then placed on my shoes and it started rubbing itself up against me. I'm in a state of terror and laughter at the same time and I see a zookeeper coming close by and he doubles over as he sees what is going on. He informed the emu was in heat and looked for an amorous partner. I said I was afraid to move but he said it would be fine so I shuffled away slowly...

I would love to visit New Zealand. The landscape just looks ridiculous. Playing golf there would be epic I'd imagine.

Except you'll struggle to find Fosters anywhere but international hotels which cater to foreigners who wrongly think Aussies like that pisswater

New Zealand is absolutely stunning. Even the flight attendants were noses up against the window as we flew into Christchurch low over the Southern Alps.

The best part is it is so remote, it makes Alaska look like New York City...at least when we were there.

I obviously show pain in the wrong sort of way!!

    • Day 133: did a stack session.
    • You can pre-order an R50 here for pretty rapid shipping (these are back-ordered almost everywhere): https://www.playbetter.com/products/garmin-approach-r50-golf-launch-monitor-simulator?ghref=2301%3A700794. This is an affiliate purchase, and I'm willing to kick back lifetime ad-free Supporter membership here on TST or a 90-minute GEARS session for the cost of a regular member lesson (about 1/3 the cost). Also, I'll record a video myself soon when I get an R50.
    • Day 58 - 2024-11-27 Some quick 90-yard shots on a particular hole… before a lesson and testing out multiple Foresight Launch Monitors on GSPro.
    • Day 209 (27 Nov 24) - Easy session with the LW - short pitches replicating greens side up and downs. Finished up with the 7i and hard foam balls - making 1/2 to 3/4 swings with deliberately slowed tempo…from varied lies.
    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
