not a big one on brag posts but i'll take this one.

On a long par-4 i hit my approach about 15 yards right of the green. My ball lands into a 18 inch high pile of leaves. behind a couple trees. I blast the ball out (like a sand shot) through 9 inch gap between trees. one bounces, it checks up and goes in.

if i ever get a hole in one, i am not sure i would be more proud of it than this shot

Very cool shot. On those days when you chip in or hole a few long putts, its amazing how the hole starts to look bigger.

I made a shot that I was proud of the other day too. I was at my local par 3 course standing on the edge of the nineth green which was 18 because it was my second time around, and over to my right was a group of young kids and a teacher talking to them. So I thought I would do something cool for them and hole it sure enough stood up, make the swing two hops and rolls in, haha just a cool senario to try to hole a something and actually accomplish it.

That's awesome you made that shot!!!!

I had a good one, too, last week. Par 5, 560 yds, with a creek down the center. Fairway crossed the creek twice. Tee shot was across the creek, left. I hit it down the right side of the fairway about two feet from the first cut. Second shot was back across the creek. Since it was down hill, 15ft., I thought I'd go for the green. BTW, this was my first time playing this course. The pin was set back and left, probably 6ft from the back and 6ft from the left, with the creek just 3ft off the left of the green. My shot hit the front fringe of the green and rolled to about 3ft left of the pin for an eagle shot. Doh, I made bird.

Guess what I'm working on this winter????

One for hooking
One for knocking it in the cup

I can't top that shot, but yesterday I might have holed my longest putt of the last few years. It was long enough I had to measure it twice. Best I could determine it was somewhere between 99 and 100 feet straight line distance, all on the putting surface. The ball traveled further than that on its rolling path on the green because it broke to the left several feet before dropping in the hole. It was almost a reverse, upside down "J" shape putt.

There are longer possible putts on the course I play. Four or five club deep greens are always challenges into the wind. I hit a good 4-iron approach, but it balooned a bit and was about six inches onto the surface. I was thinking, "Please don't three putt," and can I hit it hard enough uphill into the wind to get withing 5-6 feet.

Can't brag about awesome shots like these, but today I made a shot that I was really proud of. Par 5, 3rd shot, about 200 yards to the green. My ball is stuck to the left near a tree with just enough space to swing, but I don't have a straight line towards the green so I had to face a little bit to the right and try hitting a draw. I took the chance, knowing that chances I can reach the green are almost nothing. Surprisingly, I hit the best 4 hybrid shot of my life, starts out high to the right then comes back to the left directly landing on the green, rolls a few feet and stops at the end of the green. I made a par.

I also did an exactly similar shot on an earlier par 4. My tee shot ends up on the left side of the fairway with about 150 yards to the green. Again, I don't have a straight path to the green, so I try to play a draw shot with my 7 iron. Played a beautiful draw, but unfortunately it did not come back enough to reach the green. Landed on the right side of the green. Could've easily made a pitch and a putt to save par, but I hit my first pitch fat (as usual with my crappy short game these days) and ended up with a bogie.
My achievements:
Eagles: 0
Birdies: 18
Best Round: 89

Yesterday, I was on a par five. Hit a good drive, but caught my second shot with my 3w really badly and it went into really tall fescue, so I hit a provisional, which was exactly what I was HOPING to do the first time. About 100 yards out and I hole it out. It would've been my first eagle :'(

    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.

    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
