I hate to burst your bubble, and trust me, this is not me calling your friends slimeballs, not in the least, but the fact is, it is HIGHLY, HIGHLY likely that someone you know has done it. IMO, there is a pervasive mindest in this country where we like to believe that "bad" stuff doesn't happen, and when it does, the people it happens TO are "bad" people. The fact is, normal, everyday, GOOD people make mistakes, of all kinds, severities and forms, and - let's take our moral high ground down a notch, mistakes are just that - mistakes. Never underestimate the value of shrugging something off and moving on.

For this to be Tiger's downfall would be a crying shame. He's donated PILES of money, dedicated HOURS of his time to charities, established foundations that do good things every minute of every day, and I'm sure has provided Elin and his children, thus far, with plenty of love and companionship. Then he f'd up. Now he should deal with it and get back on track. He shouldn't be crucified for it, nor should he be praised for 'recovering.' He should deal with his life, and we all should move on.

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

The poster I replied to stated most people will cheat and that if anyone said "Not me" he would not believe them. I said "most" men I know take their vows very seriously - Most. Not all.

What bubble are you referring to?

Transgressions toward his family....not the law. Violation of law in the definition is not reserved for legislated law. Could be used as Violation of self governance.

Does that mean he's admitted to being a bit shag happy.

If you are going to say that back it up with the studies.

Someone posted one such study already in this thread. Google for others yourself, it's not hard to find them.

Good for you. But is it really better to split up with your wife than to have an affair and then find a way to stay together, whether it be through atonement and forgiveness, or through realizing that it's possible to have a strong yet non-monogamous relationship? It's fun to take a moral high ground about "disgrace," but the best course of action is not always as obvious as you make it out.
I don't know what kind of slimeballs you call friends, but most of the guys I know who stood up in front of friends and family and promised to love and honour their wife - til death do us part - actually take that sh** pretty seriously. Just my 2.00 cents.

The vast majority of people in this country eventually make such a promise (or at least go through the motions). An extremely large number of them break it. So I'm not sure what you're saying here-- should I close my eyes and pretend that the people who are cheating are all other people's friends? I think it's great to have a moral standard and to hold yourself to it, but I also know that a lot of the people who are making such claims either have or will fall short of their own intentions.

I'm curious. Who was the first source that released suspicion that Tiger cheated. I don't want to hear anyone say the Tabloids. I want to know if there is a LEGIT source that said this.
Misunderstandings spread like wildfire into things that destroy reputations.

OK, it sounds like him.

Isn't this statement after he got charged with anything? So, couldn't he be apologizing for the charges...as in breaking the law? His apology is vague, and it's meant to be for a reason. I'm not sure what that reason is, but I think he cares more about people leaving him alone than he does about everyone liking him. He'll always have sponsors, and right now he's got enough money to stop worrying about it. He could just golf for the rest of his life (including on Tour), and he could personally fund himself. I think his family is probably more important than anyone else to him. His message seems more like an "Alright, I'm sorry about doing something wrong, so leave me and my family alone" than a "I'm sorry for cheating, and I want to handle this with my family." He told people partially what they wanted to hear. And hopefully it'll be enough for people to stop hounding him.

None of us were there, none of us are involved in this situation personally, and none of us even know who Tiger Woods really is as a person. How can we make assumptions of his character based upon what we read on the internet?

I haven't listen to the voice mail yet but this says it all.

"I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart" What do you think transgressions mean here? He's definitely not talking about not taking trash out or changing diapers. It's very obvious. I has admitted it. I wouldn't think he'd admit it by saying, yes I did have a sex with that women. No way. There isn't any other meaning of 'transgressions' (it's even plural!) here. OMG, I'm very shocked and disappointed. I'm sure there is more infidelity than it appears but still, he had such a impeccable persona in and out of golf course. You can be cynical and say 'so what' but I think this is a big deal. I wouldn't think he would have been invited to speak at Obama's inauguration, had this happened before than. But than after Clinton and Spitzer, you'd think we've gotten used to it, right?

"During our weekly Lamaze class, the instructor emphasized the importance of exercise, hinting strongly that husbands need to get out and start walking with their wives. From the back of the room one expectant father inquired, "Would it be okay if she carries a bag of golf clubs while she walks?"

I think it was a Nokia N97 mini.

This actually more so proves my point. Can anyone be serious and give a tangible answer here.

I just heard on Fox News a voicemail that the alleged mistress leaked to the press. I didn't catch it word for word, but he said something like "do me a huge favor and take your name off your phone. my wife is going through my phone and calling people. let your voicemail just be the number"

again, not word for word, but the topic of the VM. Not looking any better for him now

Thank you for being serious, it's refreshing. I'll have to go online and see if I can find that news feed and have a listen.

It's everywhere.

Sounds just like him. He's all but admitted it in that statement. ..It is him. Case closed.
A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

Thanks. You should know, though, that it's not that easy to say case closed. This one is gonna drag for a while.

I'm sure it will. But it really shouldn't.He's done his bit and owned up, publicly.Surely anything else that happens is for him and his family only?

BTW, can somebody check if this is the hottest topic ever on the sand trap for record? In terms of number of messages per day, I mean?

I have a hard time catching up .

Regardless of what happens, I just pray the kids are properly taken care of and kept away from public malice
