RUSS's avg drive - 230yrds and climbing

Wife and I went tonight.... we loved it. Sheer entertainment... why would you go to a movie for anything else? Besides, I've been a sci-fi geek since the 50's.

It was extremely anti military, and they definantly went overboard with the mother earth goddess thing.

It wasn't anti military, it was simply anti bully. As far as the rest, it's fantasy... let loose of your imagination and just go with it.

I'm an ex-marine...I loved it. Didn't feel it was overly anti-military (in fact they made many references to old-school Marine classics, "Full Metal Jacket" quotes etc), maybe it was anti-kill people for profit...definitely good

You all cant honestly tell me that there was no political adgenda to the movie. The humans in the movie were supposed to represent Americans going in to the middle east. And the "unobtanium" (which is quite possibly the most retarded/unoriginal name ever) is the oil that the evil Americans supposedly started a war to get.

If you dont recognize the political adgenda you are being naive. When I go see a movie I want to be entertained, not preached at by some overly political producers/writers/directors.

But I dont mind a little adgenda, if it were a good movie. But it was not good at all. I rarely get bored by movies (I even liked Transformers 2), but I couldnt stand Avatar.

It was, like everyone already said, fern gully + dances with wolves. This might be an ok plot for 90 minutes but its terrible when they stretch it out for 3 hours.

Or if you think that there was a strong political agenda then perhaps you are being overly cynical.

That sword swings both ways. And tell me when was the last time anything came out of Hollywood without some underlying connotations, usually leaning far to the left? I am still able to turn off my analytical side and enjoy being entertained, as I was with Avatar. I simply see it as an old-fashioned good vs. evil theme, with good triumphant in the end. It's a high tech fairy tale, and I just let it be that. Your far too cynical views aren't going to succeed in spoiling that for me. By the way, it was 2½ hours, not 3.

Im not trying to spoil it for you, but it is a fact that there is a strong left leaning political adgenda, not me being overly cynical. I too can turn off my analytical side and be entertained, but thats just it-- I was not entertained at all. I was bored out of my mind during the movie. I dont mind a political adgenda, IF it is a good movie, but i simply didnt like it. As I said before, Im not trying to spoil it for you, Im just saying my opinion was that for all the hype and money that went into it, it sucked.

By the way, if your gonna call me out on the time you should really get it right-- Its 2 hr 40 min, not 2 1/2 hrs.

This is one that will lose some of its impact on the small screen. I'd see it in the theater.

    • Day 133: did a stack session.
    • You can pre-order an R50 here for pretty rapid shipping (these are back-ordered almost everywhere): https://www.playbetter.com/products/garmin-approach-r50-golf-launch-monitor-simulator?ghref=2301%3A700794. This is an affiliate purchase, and I'm willing to kick back lifetime ad-free Supporter membership here on TST or a 90-minute GEARS session for the cost of a regular member lesson (about 1/3 the cost). Also, I'll record a video myself soon when I get an R50.
    • Day 58 - 2024-11-27 Some quick 90-yard shots on a particular hole… before a lesson and testing out multiple Foresight Launch Monitors on GSPro.
    • Day 209 (27 Nov 24) - Easy session with the LW - short pitches replicating greens side up and downs. Finished up with the 7i and hard foam balls - making 1/2 to 3/4 swings with deliberately slowed tempo…from varied lies.
    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
