This is either a joke thread or that swing was not very grooved. Or you got the wrong irons.

But you aren't swinging a club. If you try to duplicate the real swing with the Wii controller, I can easily see how it could screw up your tempo and timing. The feel is NOTHING like a real golf club.

It feels so little like a golf club, that it's pretty easy to separate the two. Playing anything on the Wii, and enjoying it, does require some imagination. With imagination it can be easy to forget you're swinging a small rectangle, rather than a golf club. If you're 7. There's suspension of disbelief and then there's dillusional.

Perhaps we have a different definition of a "grooved golf swing". I think that a person with a grooved swing doesn't necessarily have a perfect swing - their mechanics are ingrained and repeatable. If someone thinks they can screw up a "grooved" golf swing playing wii, they really didn't have grooved swing (imo).

I agree with the OP. I have Tiger 10 for the Wii. While fun, I feel that I have to swing out of my shoes to get the ball to go 100%. So I don't play it that much.

Really??

I sit in a chair or on my futon and hold the wiimote in one hand and just flick my wrist. Never had a problem with getting max power. I enjoy the Wii and play 72 holes a day during the winter. It's fun, but has as much in common with real golf as watching a travel show on TV has in common with a vacation!

this is going to make u all pretty jealous. I live in Pakistan , we dont have winters where i am :XD

It's a game ... I play Tiger 10 on the Wii with the motion part and it keeps my back and leg muscles loose during winter. I'm 54 and get sore quickly if I haven't stayed "in shape." I agree with the poster that said it's as real to golf as watching the Travel Channel is to a vacation .... but it IS realistic enough to keep my swing muscles loose. Plus ... it's alotta fun!!!

Also ... to the posters that have simulators at home/work ... where, made by who ... how much? Really, can you post this information? THANKS ...
I make all my own clubs:

i dont know what you guys are talking about on here. i play this game, and of course it doesn't feel like your swinging a club, but it does feel dang close for a video game coming from a long line of controllers and spinning a ball *golden tee* But i dont feel that this mess's up my swing tempo, or does it take any more then a normal swing to get 100%. I love this game.. might go play more right now :)

Ours at work is a commercial simulator made by AboutGolf. Price tag was around the 50k. My bosses are avid golfers and thought the employees could enjoy this. We're about 90 employees....but only about 4-5 play on it regularly. Every few months I spark a short tournament and get about 20-30 people to participate. Usually a mixed doubles 3 hole.

They bought this about 3 years ago.

It's great! It's helped the handful of us really groove our swing and bring down the stokes.

Last summer I shot 90s all year. Before this sim I was shooting 100+ with a <105 being very rare. I'm hoping to shoot 80s this upcoming summer.

    • Idk but I would have to imagine that a putter that is aimed where you think it's aimed would be the most important aspect of a putter

    • Nothing exposes low point control, and for that matter the general quality of ball striking like tight lies. Lol! I am at a crossroad. My days of playing with a super strong left hand grip are coming to an end it seems. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to maintain proper face control through impact as the club face naturally wants to turn over. The quality of strike and ball flight difference when I weaken the grip is stark. Problem is a weaker grip is at odds with my poor sore left forearm which I have been nursing for last few days after 3 days of demanding golf. As of now I will continue my 'transition' to a weaker grip with woods and hopefully my forearm will condition as I go along. Maybe someday I'll get to a normal address with irons too.
