Some reason, I'm hooking the ball with my hybrid pretty bad. I'm fine with my other clubs, it's just the hybrid. When I get to the top of my backswing in that video, something seems amiss. Does the club face look strange to you?

Thanks guys!

I'll be quick here, but you get a little stuck and seem to come at the ball really far from the inside.

Every hybrid I have seen seems to have a slightly closed club face, this could be a contributor.

i'll second that. hybrids largely seem to be anti-slice ''draw'' clubs. try not to come so far from the inside.

How would you recommend to stop coming so far from the inside? And to be honest, I haven't seen a video of my swing in a while, and wow I've really increased my inside swing. (Which I'm very happy about)

There is a difference between hitting it from the inside and the club being a bit stuck behind you. The usual symptoms of that are hooks and pushes from the last second flip.

I'll 3rd these.

You don't want to come from the inside

that much. I'd rather be over the top a degree or two than so far from the inside. I've had games where all I could do was hook the piss out of it because I felt the same way. I watched the pros on TV and they all looked like slicers compared to me. I was nearly 15° from the inside, and the ball just tore off right, then turned left. That was hard to fix. I think it's the biggest myth in golf that over the top is bad. A beginner over the top slice is bad, that's for sure, but we're talking 15° over the top. Many great players came over the top, Snead, Singh, and sometimes Love III. I can control my driver to a very small margin by hitting a little fade, but once it's going left, it's gone. Anthony Kim had also stated this on "Tee it up with Tiger." Most good players fear the hook over the slice. You can talk to a slice, but a hook won't listen. Trevino is a wise man (and I think a bullfighter).

Once again, thank you Shanks a Million. I'll try and keep my body in sync with my club so it'll come straighter down. (Or at least that's my hypothesis, I have yet to test it.)

Also,

I think he's a bullfighter too!

looks like your forward swing is about 15 degrees in to out. To compensate, open the club face 15 degrees. Approximately speaking, the ball flight will start on a line 15 degrees right of target then draw back 15 degrees.
Another way to compensate without changing your swing---open your stance. See which method of compensation feels better.

Yea Fred couples does the same thing and just opens his stance pretty big..... Im not gonna add anything else really, everyone else pretty much said everything.

One thing I want to ask you though, is how were you able to upload your vid to youtube in slow motion? We have very similar cameras and I cant figure out how to get it to play in slo mo after putting it on my computer.

Youve got a really nice swing by the way, you sure your a 10 HCP??

By most conventional views, you are a little closed at the top -- i.e., your club face points more to the sky than your arm plane. Most recommend the clubface be parallel to the arm or even slightly toe down.

To be honest, I'm really not sure I'm a 10 HCP. I might be more? I just kinda take a guess of the average score I make at courses. And what camera do you have? I have a Zi8.

http://download.cnet.com/ArcSoft-Med...-10839901.html That's a download for the software if you don't have it. It came on my camera, so I just use that to slow my videos down. If you record in 60fps, put them in that software, slow them down to 1/2x speed, and save the video. (I mute the soundtrack because the voices in the background) and then I upload them.

This might have already been said, but it looks like youre hooding the face a little bit. You drop into a sqaut and come very far from the inside to begin with, so that combined with the closed face will hook the ball. I do the same exact thing and i still struggle with it.

And where were you hitting that ball to? lol...

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
