Loft wise, yes. The only difference could be the grind. But if it is not a custom club, they are the exact same thing.

If it's marked a sandwedge, it would likely have more bounce...

There could be a HUGE difference in bounce.. a LW can have 4 degrees while most sand wedges have what??? 14-16 degrees...

Nah, there's no set rule. The only real difference is sematnics. I don't have an actual "sand wedge" in my bag, just two wedges, 53 and 60.

Still if it's marked as SW it'll have more bounce.

If the grind/bounce doesn't allow me to open up a wedge I don't want it in the bag. That's not just for the LW either.

yeah i get your point... a 60 degree wedge is just going to say 60 on it... I guess it is only in my mind that I would call a 60 degree wedge with a small amount of bounce a Lob Wedge and one with a lot of bounce a 60 degree sand wedge. The below is from the cleveland web site... their 1 dot 60 degree wedge has 4 degrees of bounce.. what "I" would call a LW... their 3 dot 60 has 14 degrees of bounce,,, what I would call a SW... however, most folks would just call both of them a LW.

??? I don't play a wedge with enough loft for it to be considered a "Lob" wedge (I'd consider anything 58+ a lob wedge), but those who do seem adamant they HAVE to be able to open it up...

      Day 87 (27 Jul 25) - Made it an easy session with the wedge this afternoon, worked on staying in the shot and not lifting out - split between low spinners and higher floaters.

      Shot my new low 72 (par 70) today. Had 5 birdies, also a new best, which included a hole out from the bunker on par 3 6th, and another hole out pitch from 15ish yards on the long par 4, 15th.  Got a couple of other good breaks. Except for an OB drive on 14th (and ensuing double bogey), not much went wrong. All in all I might have used up a year's worth of luck in a single day.

      Back in the saddle after vacation.  Day 1: played 18. Did not have it, but still battled to an 82. Felt closer to a 90, but that’s fine.

      Day 300 - 2025-07-27 Good 44-ball segment. GSPro was acting goofy, so I just put it on the Quad. Then I hit a bunch of low spinners. Hit 14° down to 9.8° down, with the average closer to 12.3° or so. Focused mostly on the backswing. Right knee good, hands roll up and out a little before laying off (FAR).
