Hi everybody. Im from Greensburg, PA. About 30 minutes from pittsburgh. I have been playing golf seriously for about a year now and I am in love. Cant wait for the snow to go. I have been playing throught the winter on full swing simulators but its not the same. This forum seems like a wealth of knowledge. My goals for next year are to get my handicap into the low teens which I know is a pretty lofty goal. I have been focusing lately on learning to manage the couses better. Once spring hits I will hit the short game like its no ones business.

Slightly off topic, but I can get to Wilmington in the same amount of time it takes for CC Philly ; turnpike; Blue route; I95. Take 301 South and I can get to Kent Island, MD on the Chesapeake faster than Cape May.

In my quest to end my newbie status I saw this post and so I will reply. I'm from Pittsburgh and I am glad that after being covered in snow for what seemed like an eternity, I will finally be hitting the greens (hopefully) this weekend. My goal is to consistently shoot in the low 90s this year and hopefully break 85.

    • Worst thing on Sunday was that NBC and Peacock wouldn't let me FF through the commercials on my DVR recording. Very boring when a guy has a huge lead on the final round and everyone else is playing for 2nd place. At least it was USA 1-2-3 in the end.
    • First day of a trip to Bandon Dunes. We played Sheep Ranch today. A Coore/Crenshaw designed course. A par 34 on the front and 38 on the back. With 8 holes with either a green, tee box, or the hole runs along the edge of the bluffs at the pacific. It has amazing vistas. With wide fairways and intermixed gorse bushes. The defense of the course are its large, undulated greens and the daily winds from the north. Many times you need to take 3-4 clubs more, if you even barely cross the wind, your ball can be taken offline or come up half to a full club short. A fantastic layout.    here are some photos.
    • At Sheep’s Ranch, Bandon Dunes. Shot an 84. That wind was nasty going from like hole 7 forward. It was like a 3-4 club wind if in the face. Greens are tricky with the natural grass.
    • Yes. The full swing is not that different, and speed is important with all of them. You don't see Tour players hitting their driver 310 and then hitting their 7I 160. Of course, but they're nothing like those for the full swing.
    • How about with the high numbered irons such as the 9 iron? Is the swing the same with that? If that's the case then I stand corrected.  OK, although there is physics involved in the putt too.
